I just bought a nVidia Geforce FX 5500(256 mb), to replace my old GeForce 2 MX(64mb). So will Civ IV run better with this video card? Thanks

I've got an NVIDIA Geforce FX 5200 and Civ IV runs fine on it, so logically it should run even better on an FX 5500.

I have a GeForce FX 5500 256MB and it runs better than i thought it would, ofc i have all graphic settings on low but it runs fine.

My others specs are:
AMD Athlon 64 3400+ 2.4Ghz
1GB RAM
More than 80GB of free space on my hardrive

It lags a little bit in the late game on a standard map size but nothing to complain about.

I have one problem with the game, it makes my PC reboot by itself after a couple of hours of play. If anyone knows why this happens plz post here or send me a PM thx.

If you're using an FX card(5xxx), a look at the topic to which I linked might be worth your while. FX series GPUs have poor DirectX9 shader support, and so you might encounter speed problems as a result(despite the fact FX cards SHOULD be able to handle the game's graphics).

The fix described in the topic isn't a sure thing for everyone, but it seems to have done the trick for me(I have an FX 5600).
