woops, I meant to say DELL laptops, I guess this won't work for everyone. But the forum has a lot of drivers for other manufacturers, so look around?

So, I'm running a dell laptop with a craptastic GF 440GO 32MB card. The game ran pretty crappy for the most part, and would have this stutter lag thing whenever it would center on a city/unit not in my own territory and whenever one needed an upgrade. Yuck.

I just upgraded to the drivers from here:

which seems to support ALL nvidia chipsets on laptops. It really made a significant difference I think, and I highly recommend it to anyone who's really  right now at how the game performs. The default WinXP SP2 drivers... not so good. These tweaked/updated drivers, pretty good stuff.

I'm getting more RAM sometime this week and I think it might help all of my other issues. After that, I guess I'm going to have to see about spending $100-200 bucks to get a 64mb video card for this laptop rather than stick with the one I have. Regardless, these drivers made it a MUCH more tolerable experience so far! (and if you don't like those drivers, they have a ton for other models of cards and it's the best site I've seen and I think it should be added to a FAQ if it's not already. I didn't see it but that doesn't mean a lot some days).
