NVIDIA Quadro problems

Hello,

I can see that my technical issues are not an isolated issue. My problem is that the game simply refuses to load after the resolution drops to 1024 x 768. I'll either get a shot of my desktop, or a black screen with the Civ pointer. I poked around to see what the issue was, and found a site called srtest.com. That site returns information saying that my system fails completely. What's odd is that when it goes into a detailed analysis, it meets and exceeds the minimum and recommended values.

I'm using a nVidia Quadro4 700 GoGL 64mb of video ram with a gig of DDRram on a 2.4ghz machine. I'm running an older computer here with a 32 meg video card that loads the game just fine, albeit at a reduced graphic level.

Are there any known issues with my video card? I've been currently unable to reach their tech support, but I haven't seen my card mentioned anywhere.

Update: Called Tech Support, and they told me my card doesn't have Hardware Transform and Lighting. So add nvidia quadro4 to the list of useless graphics cards.

I'm pretty sure that that card does support Hardware T&L. In fact, I'd almost bet money on it. It's based on the NV28, which should be the GeForce 4 (Ti, not MX) series, which certainly DOES support HW T&L. It's possible that the Quadro drivers are causing other compatibility problems though.

Considering that I bought the card originally to run 3D software, I find it extremely hard to believe that it doesn't support hardware T&L. Only problem is how do I find a video driver that will correct the issue?

Sidenote -- The game runs, albeit somewhat minimalistically on my wifes computer with an older 32-bit nvidia card. Her basic system is strong enough that I'm thinking strongly about buying a 128 bit card so I can play the game at a higher resolution.

Well... first off, what drivers are you currently running? The most recent Quadro drivers from www.nvidia.com are 77.56, and if you aren't running them, I'd recommend giving them a try. (Get them here).

If those don't work, just by the number of problems other people have been having, I'd wait on the first game patch that I imagine won't be tooooo far away before going to buy another card. If you're still having issues by Saturday, I'll 'softmod' my 6800 to a Quadro and see if I can duplicate your problems! Unfortunately I won't have the game until tomorrow, and due to the fact that tomorrow is the last exam of a five year University degree, I think Friday will probably be a bit of write off!.

I had previously scoured nvidia's site for new drivers, and downloaded the Quadro4 GoGL driver, which was one hell of a long search, no good. I downloaded the driver you linked too previously as it turns out, and the install program closes after saying it can't detect the software on my computer. I tried to install it again to verify that. On a whim, and since I had already uninstalled my previous drivers, I selected the Quadro4 700 XGL driver from the Windows menu, and SUCCESS!!! The game started up, and looks beautiful and runs smoothly at Medium quality. Played for about an hour.

Only problem is that I noticed that my 3D software doesn't run as smooth with this new driver, so now with the solution comes a new problem. Computers are great!

I couldn't find a solution at that site. I tried updating the GoGL driver from Dell and NVIDIA. Supposedly a new one was released, but the downloaded link comes up with an older driver then what they say is offered. I suppose I could just reboot in XGL mode when I want to play, but that's a pain in the ass.
