Do you guys know if when you upgrade an unit, it keeps the bonuses you have given to it ?
obsolete units.....should be still able to be built at any stage of the game

I hated toward the end of the game the list of 600 things to build when really only like 4 are options
Actually, the question about promotions.
What about promotions that only seem to make sense in the early periods, and seem out of place in the modern era?
I haven't had a look at the kind of promotions we can get, but are there any that would end up themselves becoming obsolete? I'd find that a problem if promotions end up useless come the modern age.

I think not. All promotions are usually pretty general, like defending cities, attacking cities, etc.
The bonuses that will get obsolete, like bonuses against mounted units, are I THINK tied to units themselves, and not promotions. But I could be wrong.
