I'd like to know if this means that the Wonders of the World have no effect anymore. For example, if you builded the Great Library, are you gonna receive other techs after you discover Education or it has no effect anymore after you discover it. Thanks in advance.

When it becomes obsolete it no longer has an effect.

...and tourist money!!!

yes and no, it becomes obsolete the turn AFTER you get education even though when you discover it the computer will tell you the GL is obsolete, but you will still gain techs that the other two civs have for that turn. Example: I was playing a SID game and got the GL and gained about 24 techs :crazyeye: Education was about the 12th tech that I discovered but I continued to get 12 more techs after that, so it's actually the turn after you get Education

this dosent make sense...once any civ reaches education the wonder becomes obsolete....correct me if im wrong though. and there isnt over 40 techs u could have got before education.

Nope. The Great Library isn't obselete until the civ that has it gets Education. However, the GL becomes obselete on the turn after Education is discovered. Some people have gotten to the Modern Age using it.

 Sorry, but I could not understand the case here. Might be caused by my lack of English.

Will I get techs when I learn Education or what?

Last night, I completed GL but still did not get any free Techs from others. Am I "the one and only" in my world?

Will I be ablt to use my free techs bonus right after finishing GL or right after learning Education?

Thanks.

You complete the great library you will get every tech that is known by at least two civilizations. You must have contact with the civs for this to work. So if the Americans and English know Education and you do not, you will get it providing you have contact with both civs.

The Great Library becomes obsolete the turn you discover Education. So if you meet two civs that have techs beyond education, you will get all their techs, even ones that come after education.

Thank you very much for the quick and understandable answer.

Just as an aside, the way wonders go obsolete has changed from Civ2 to Civ3.

In Civ2, the wonder would be become obsolete if any civ discovered the appropriate tech.

In Civ3, the wonder is obsolete only if the owner has the tech.

Hmmm, would that mean that you should gift education to the AI controlling the GL as soon as you discover it? In order to stop him getting free techs??

You do not even need to gift it. You can sell the stoopid AI education and he will still pay full price.
