Won a Occ Culture victory as Egypt on Deity
Setting were Pangaea, Small, Egypt, Once City Challenge, No Ancient Ruins, Diety, Quick

I owe the win to my start location, squeezed between 2 CS, AI practically loved me.

Sp Path was Tradition(Completed)>Rationalism (Opener)>Freedom(Completed)>Rationalism(Completed)>Piety(Completed)>Commerce(Completed)

Lol... Did you plan on doing this? The map is just hilarious.

I planned on doing a culture win as Egypt, I can't remember if I ticked OCC or not, but I stayed at 1 city and was able to pull it off.

Surprisingly there was a lot of warmongering on this map, despite being weird for a Pangaea. England got killed before I even met them, and Arabia had a little nuclear fallout thanks to Alexander.

Well done, in my book that is very impressive. I have been struggling post patch to get anwhere near a OCC Deity Cultural Victory. I notice you filled out the Piety and Rationalism Policy Trees!

I assume this game is post patch!
I assume you had Policy saving enabled!
I assume you filled in the last Policy in every tree in one hit!
Which Wonders did you get?
How many landmarks did you build?
How many cultural City States were you allied with?

When I read pangaea I was amazed, then I looked at the mini map and I laughed
Good job but what a weird (and lucky) position!

it was my understanding if you went rationalism then chose Piety, Rationalism would be removed & wouldn't count towards Utopia Project?

The effects of Rationalism are removed, however it still counts if you complete it. Rationalism is necessary for teching your important techs before the computer does.

Ex: Acoustics, Archeology, Mass Media

Hmm... Interesting. I am surprised you chose both Piety & Rationalism instead of Piety & Patronage. Patronage helps in science too.

Patronage (Scholasticism) has been nerfed hard as CS can no longer build National wonders.

Did you random leader or choose Egypt? I've been trying a OCC on Deity for a while now using random leader and I've had some pretty bad luck. Thinking I might need to just choose a civ now, lol.

I chose Egypt in order to spam wonders. By doing this I was able to get the most out of the Freedom SP that gives +2 Culture per world wonder. Certain Civs are better than others.

I also got my win before the fix to the finisher policy counting towards higher culture. So it should now be easier to get a win, let alone a pre 200-turn win.

I have a silly question...

What's OCC?

By the way... Congratulations... I can barely survive in Deity....

Greetings
Zeke

OCC = One City Challenge. The human player isn't allowed to build more cities other than the capital.

I've been trawling through threads for a while being completely frustrated with cultural victories... This, this is simply amazing. How did you do this with one city? It seems damn near impossible since the patch, all the other threads I've read have confirmed that is a lot slower with one city than with a few.

Also on Pangea too? Unfortunately your screenshot is pretty blurry but what sort of culture were you producing?

I've noticed you bring this victory up on other threads, you must be very proud. I must say though, that's the weirdest damn Pangea map I've ever seen. Do you by chance have the initial save of that game? I'd love to give it a shot.

Oh, and this victory was before the last hotfix I assume? Did you get the Great Library by any chance?

EDIT:
I tried shift-r on your image but the culture bit still looks blurry as hell to me, although I do have fail eyes.

Failed again - post patch I fail every time, . You are simply brilliant.
Please can you show us how you do it.
1 - A start map so we can all join in.
2 - Some answers to my questions.
3 - An Aanswer to MMs question!
4 - Don't go bragging on other peoples threads and spoiling the thread!
5 - I never would have thought about having lots of battleships as Nuclear sub path finders.
I could say so much more, but quite frankly you are not worth it!

IF I GET KICKED OFF THE SITE BECAUSE OF THIS RESPONSE, IT'S WORTH IT!
