Well I just bought DSL and a router to broadcast it wirelessly, and I'm having an odd problem... every once in a while I get a lag spike for no apparent reason. I'm not sure why, but while it doesn't really matter for browsing it makes online games really frustraing. I'm not sure of the problem originates from, as everything is new, so I thought I would ask here to see if anyone knows were these tpyes fo problems likely occur.

You didn't give a lot of information. But one question that comes to mind is whether it happens at predictable times of day. Because network congestion can be an issue at certain times and places.

Yeah, it usually happens in the afternoon, hitting it's peak around 4-6. It could be congestion I guess... but I thought having DSL eliminated that problem?

No. You see the ISPs build their network to average traffic. Not peak traffic. And if you ask them about it, they'll have their tech rep spend hours trying to convince you it's your fault. :p
