Odd Problem

My copy of Civilization III (original, no expansions) hasn't worked in a long time. My brother was over and managed to get it to run, but as soon as you press "New Game" the whole thing locks up and you have to force quit.

I suppose my question is a simple one. How do I fix it?

If you have the original discs, just un-install and re-install.

If not, well, that is harder.

I had a similar problem at one time when a firewall program, after an upgrade, would not allow the game to run. I turned off the 'Let me think for myself' switch and it worked fine. But I had to disable the firewall before I knew it was the problem.

Once you get the game running, look at the version. The lastest and greatest build for vanilla is 1.27f. There is a place here in the forum that has the patches you may need.
