Oil Barrel

Does this unit do anything?
 
It does what it wants you to do...:groucho:


Which is mainly a replacement for a treasure unit.
 
remake20... The Oil Barrel is simply made and intended to be set as an immobile "Unit" to provide the illusion that it is a Resource. It allows this "Resource" to be "Manufactured", Transported and captured as you like. Normal Resources do not possess these abilities.
 
Can we make a steel unit or a litte (ammo) box? Then things really getting interesting

:lol: We already have Treasure, Supplies, Oil, "Herb", and "Medicinal Drugs". But, well, yes, I suppose the more the, um, merrier ... :goodjob:

Thanks Civinator... It is indeed a very simple "unit" and I agree that some of the minor graphics can make a nice difference in the game.

Not much I could do concerning animation for this unit...unless I had it Blow Up for the Death :lol:

I made it a single barrel but I could certainly make it with multiple barrels if it is needed. I saw Ozy's Post wanting an Oil Barrel Unit and thought perhaps he could use this unit.

That could be it's attack also. Perhaps Mike Rush keeps some of the old oil he drains out of cars in those barrels, and came to the realization that an explosive barrel of oil could cook a good number of those zombie mothers :D

The problem with it Blowing Up as an Attack is that it would keep Blowing up until it or the Other Unit won.

IF it Blew Up for the Death, that would only take place once....so the Attack would have to be something that could injure or Kill another Unit in the first place, then Blow Up for the Death.

Perhaps have it as a one use bombarding unit (similar to the chlorine gas shell in AoI I believe), have it roll in with a flaming rag stuck in the opening.

There are ways to set the Oil Barrel so it could be used as a Bombard Unit or set as a Cruise Missile so it would Explode once but the settings would cause problems for it as a "Unit Resource" that can be transported and captured.

If set as an Immobile Cruise Missile, it could keep the non animated Default and perhaps tip over and Roll to the attack point and explode for the Bombard Attack, causing injury or death but special Units would have to be made to transport it as a Cruise Missile...The AI would use the Oil Barrels as Cruise Missiles but would Not use such transports and when discovered the Oil Barrel would simply be destroyed.

The main point for the Oil Barrel was to Function as a Resource that could be produced, captured and transported.
Resources do not attack :lol: so really it is more a decision to use the Oil Barrel as a Resource or as a Bombard Unit.

I suppose as an immobile Unit it could Leak Oil and or Smoke or Burn for an attack so it would appear somewhat plausible if it was attacked (Rather than appear as it attacking) and if destroyed it could Explode or Burn for the Death. It would remain an immobile unit so it would stay where it is placed and it could continue to be transported and continue to be produced from an Improvement so it could appear as a Resource without being one but if it has an attack, capturing it would be a problem.
