Ok, I'll admit it - Monarchy Rules!

Monarchy iz ok, but it suckz neckzt 2 republic d00d.. j00 gotta learn that or j00 will alwayz b really cool guys .

Ironic Warrior - Is this one of these famous 'flame wars' I keep reading about. Pretty boring since it's pretty one-sided. Oh well,

I spendz little time on civ3, az my skillz r already byond this game... I just thot I'd give j00 really cool guys some of my knowledge.. but if j00 don't want it, I guess j00 ain't gonna get the skillz, not my loss.

Your not beyond this game yet. Go in the editor and have the AI start with three times as many units as they already do on deity. If you still beat that level, then I will want to know your knowlege, otherwise I'll listen to more respectful posters.

Letz just wait till multiplay comes out d00d... and if j00 don't believe me, here iz my latezt deity win, tel me howz I can l00z this d00d:

In case any one reads this before getting fished in to downloading IronicWarrior19's game: I checked it out. It isn't clear how it is a win next turn and he didn't say. It is tiny deity with 3 opponents and a win on the next turn (if possible - he's behind his remaining opponent in score) would score about 5300. Less later, his bonus is going down. It doesn't look like he's checked out the HOF before coming in and crowing :)

Uhh d00d... the game iz not finished yet... the idea iz a win by conquest... which iz easy now considering I'm top in every demo and have a lead in tech. I care not for score, that iz just a test of patience... I ain't got the timez for waztin on this gamez...

How sad. Your narrow mind fails to think outside the square. Just because we like to use monarchy at times doesn't exactly mean that we are as you put it: "n00bs".

I know that republic is a good government to get the big science leap early on (but with AI tech-sharing, it is a bit of a mute point, unless you refuse to sell them communications. That won't work either as they eventually find each other).

Monarchy doesn't suck next to republic. Each government has its own strengths and weaknesses. To get full effect with a form of government, you need to know how to use it to its best and fullest. With monarchy, you don't have the problems of war weariness and can use sufficient military police. Therefore it is a good government to use when you want to fight a war all the way to the end of the game. Under republic, war weariness eventually gets you into trouble (unless you have Universal Suffrage and police stations. But they don't show up 'til later). But it helps you leap ahead in science (except for when the AI share their techs)

So, by comparison, republic is good for your economy and science boost early on, but you lose most of your control and need to pay hefty sums to support your army, which will cause weariness amongst the population when used. Monarchy, while it has less potential for economy and science does have plenty of free unit support (8 free units in a metropolis) and since you can pay to hurry improvements, you won't get your 40 turn grudge like in Despotism or Communism (communism being a decent government when you get IT right as well). That should ensure greater stability.

Why you come on here and dis everyone as newbies using your own hard-to-understand language technique is beyond me. I really don't care how you ended up with your huge superiority complex, but the fact of the matter is that people don't care how much you love yourself. So please, just don't say anything mean, unintelligible, illegible or out of line if you don't have anything constructive, thought-provoking or humorous to say.

[offtopic] By the way everyone, sorry if my posts seem way too long. Its a habit I picked up from doing essay writing in Advanced English back in High School. I have yet to kick the habit (any support groups around?). Again, sorry. [/offtopic]

to wage war in the latter stages under monarchy takes a bit of planning because u want to have income coming in and techs being researched faster than anyone else....

i switched to monarchy for my next target (the russians) after destroying the iroquois. it went all thru without war weariness and no cities flipped.....

i have about 6-10 turns b4 i launch my space ship and i wanna make one last sweep to wipe out the zulus who are the only other civ on my continent.....

i also discovered when yer the tech leader u can set the pace of the game. when u research techs and dont sell them, the AI can still steal them from u if the spy is not caught. so i reduced the tech speed.

J00 iz forgettin, not onlee does republic give j00 good tech, but j00 can also get more cash then monarchy.... az I sayz, it r00lz.

Most of the time, if you stay at war long enough, you force the AI's into monarchy and communism. With the current patch, this will actually reduce those communist civs to almost nothing because of unhappiness caused by pop-rushing. With this in mind, you can probably out research the AI even under monarchy.
