SE and CE? What the heck are ya'll referring to there?

commerce economy and specialist economy

Hmm I specialize my cities into one of four types (except for ones that for some reason end up being hopeless):

- Wealth City (cottages)
- Science City (cottages too but empasis on science specialists/buildings/wonders)
- Great Person Farm (food)
- Military Production Center (hammers)

So what am I doing? CE?

That would be HE (Hybrid Economy), where you employ both cottages and specialists (+farms). I think most people play that way and specialize their cities to perform different duties (wonder builder, science city, military city, gp farm (science city usually..).

Interesting, thanks for the replies.

Aint that Cottage Economy (CE)? Meaning, build excess of cottages and get most out of from them.

yeah yeah, you're right, I just think of it as Commerce Economy, cause you end up with a lot of commerce. Cottage is probably more accurate to describe what you actually do.

CE is actually commerce economy, even if the term cottage economy is usually used. The point there is that commerce is translated to gold and beakers using the slider, and generally cottages are the only way to provide large amounts of commerce. Only early on can you get comparable (or even higher) commerce by other means - later you have to have cottages matured to some amount to keep in the research race.

And yes - you're using CE if you're relying mainly on cottages for research. GP farm is a special feature of CE, as SE relies mainly on running specialists and getting great people from multiple cities that way.
