Yes, I use putty. It's what we're allowed to use. I've gotten used to it. (If I had a desktop system, I could get away with installing a Linux VM, But I get a laptop, so I can more easily respond to trouble tickets after hours, and they won't authorize it on that.)

Aw, bummer. I got pretty lucky at my work, on my first day they gave me a cleanly wiped computer and were like "Here, install an operating system and whatever else you need."
