Is there a specific set of rules for the "One City Challenge"?

I mean, obviously I assume you're only supposed to have one city, but... Are there any other rules that apply?

Are there rules about which victory types you can use (I've just done two OCCs on Regent, and won each by a rather cheap Culture Victory...)

Are there rules about the difficulty level, world size or other such factors?

Are there rules about specially-made maps, so that your city has access to all the necessary resources?

Basically, I really like the OCC - I was doing it back on Civ2, and I want to do it more here. But it would be interesting to know if there's a special set of rules out there for it...

If anybody can point me towards a relevant resource, I would greatly appreciate it... :goodjob:

Generally, no custom maps, but everything else is fair game, but I fail to see how you can win by domination. :hmm:

There are two versions of OCC. One where you can never have more than one city, and another where you can never end a turn with more than one city.

Well, I've basically been accepting cities as war reparations or capturing them, but I always abandon them immediately (okay, so occasionally I do forget for a few turns :( )

Domination strikes me as impossible, but I normally turn that off as an option anyway - why should somebody win just for controlling most of the map?

Conquest is how I really want to win it, but at least I'm getting a chance to experience other forms of victory this way :)

Its a game within a game, i would say you can set your own rules.

ps: IMO, domination and conquest are the only true ways to win actually.
Basically it is conquest of course, domination is simply a good thing because when you are at that point, there is no way you are not gonna win by conquest if you keep on going. It simply saves time and cuts of the boring part of the game.
Of course, domination and 100k are impossible in OCC

I've got a couple commonly-accepted definitions of OCC in my thread on variants. There are lots of others. Check out the link in my sig.

Of course, what you do in the privacy of your own home is up to you. :)

Cultural, diplo, conquest are essentially the only victory conditions open. I suppose histograph is possible, if unlikely. Cultural (20K) and diplo are the easiest.

Every once in a while I attempt a go at a OCC, but I generally get bored by the time the ancient age is over.

For some reason, Tomoyo saying that custom maps were a no-no actually made me decide to open up the editor for the first time and make a location suitable for a utopia...

So very early into the game, I hit the 12-citizen mark and I've now got a long way to go until I can grow any further.

But I read in another thread that the Shakespeare's Theatre also acts as a hospital. Is this right, or is it another wonder? Perhaps more importantly, does this also apply in PTW? If so, I'm tempted to head for it. Otherwise, it'll be all-out research for the hospital...
