Hello. I'm snewt.

*waits for response from civfanatics*
Civfanatics: Hi snewt.

So, i recently bought civilization 4: the complete edition. It all started with...

*started playing @ 7:00 a.m*
"Ok, I'll play till 8:00 a.m. I really need to get going by then."
*finishes playing and looks at clock - 9:00 a.m.*

I feel like the grandma in this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Br1BWPWEdlQ

:goodjob:welcome

you are hosed!

Civfanatics: Hi snewt.

Hi snewt.

Okay, I'm just one Civfanatic, I can't speak for the rest. But it sounds to me like you're well on your way to the 7PM-9AM game.

I'll admit I skipped more than the occasional class when I first got CIV. I found only playing before mandatory sleep cycles tends to help cure the 'one more turn' syndrom (hard to keep hitting turn end when passed out on your desk), but on occasion it can backfire leading to those epic 7PM-9AM games.

Its so funny how it happens, if you think about your thought processes in the meantime..

ok one more turn... ooo a great person I just bulb this... ah this tech will be useful. Then time for bed. OH NO! he declared war. We'll just put him in his place. Done. Should expand more really.. then go to bed.. oh wait I can do this..

and it goes on haha. Its what I simultaneously love and hate about this game :)
Never had one of those epics :/ but I've had my own. Think my record is 11am to 8pm once.

I think maybe I should introduce my wife to Civ, so she'll understand when I say "can't wash dishes right now, sorry, waiting for a good place to save and quit..."

When you start at 5 PM, think you'll play a few hours and end up stopping at 5 AM, you've really got the "just one more turn..."-syndrome. I remember back in the day with Civ 1 and 2 it wasn't at all uncommon for me to just forget the time and rule the world instead.

Its good though, you can show the clock in game. And if its REALLY important, you can apparently set an alarm/reminder.
But if you have the one more turn syndrome, you'll dismiss the reminder play one more... and so it goes again.
Was a nice idea to include that though :p
