It seems that there is only one source of uranium on my entire planet. Is this possible? Or do I have to re-explore everyplace when a new resource comes into play?

It's possible that some of the uranium is hidden under cities either you or the ai built. Mouse over the cities and it'll tell you if they're built on a resource.

Or just turn on the "Resource Icons" from the minimap, which will point out the resources even if they are under a city.

I think it is random. I played a huge map game recently, and had a massive amount of land. Had over 100 aluminum, and only 4 uranium.

Lack of strategic resources can be pretty fun. In my current game on my continent there only 2x2 iron. All in the possession of one AI civ... No city states that have any iron that I could buy. So it is all about pikemen now and trying to get to gunpowder as fast as possible.

I once played duell on a huge map and had only one spot of each resource -strategic and luxury ones; except of two iron.
So I thought maybe the number of resources depends on the number of players.

I wanted to know whether Spain gets the gold bonus for finding the natural wonders if you started in Future Era, as the map is revealed from the start. And I didn`t get any gold by the way.
