Only cities units and improvements visible

The game workes fine except that only cities units and improvements are visible everything else is black. Some times a little corner will be lit up like it should but how do i fix this?

And has he patched the game? If so, reinstall DirectX, get some new graphics drivers...

If that won't help, enter world builder in game and select "reveal map" or something like that. And report.
