Does anyone know if you can open the conquest scenario files to mod the victory conditions and time lomits or are these files locked.

If you can open them what is the file you open them with.

I would like to change the victory conditions on the ww2-pacific files but cant get the file to open properly.......thx.......

Yes, you can edit them - just use the editor and go to the 2nd Conquests folder. (i.e. c:\program files\infogrames\civilization III\conquests\Conquests).

You can edit them! Isn't that sort of dangerous, like what if somebody messes theirs up? Do they have to reinstall the game?

Oh , you have to open it from inside the editor. The scenario stuff confuses me sometimes but THANK YOU so much this is outstanding.

Now I can play the ww-2 pacific scenario to it conclusion where you win by conquest. WOO HOO.:goodjob:

If the Conquests are edited and then saved as their original name they would be changed permanently. So, it is obvious that any player or modder wanting to change things, should be very careful in backing up the original Conquest and saving its name.

A damaged scenario would have to be reinstalled. :)

So, rule of thumb when modding the Conquests.

1) make a copy of the Conquest.
2) place this copy in the \Conquests\Scenarios folder.
3) make any changes you want to the Conquest. ( do not modify the scenario that has MP in front of its name.
4) Link the new conquest to the original scenario folder from the Scenarios properties tab.
5) Save
6) when loading the game, select Civ Content entry and then select your new scenario.

Thx, Is it possible to make a saved game with a different name in the editor and then export that game as a file in the scenario file folder. In other words you make your changes in the scenario and save that version and then export that saved game version out of the editor to create a new file?

Not sure I understand what you are asking. A saved game in the editor? Or saivng a biq file?

Hi Bob, Thx for the replies....

If I make changes to a scenario while Im in the editor than I can save those changes under a different name and create a different version but then can I export that saved new version into a scenario file? Im just got back to the computer so Im messing with this now and will report back soon.
