I got this game about a year ago, I was interested in getting a realistic FPS at the time, and it was the best one then. Anyway, I played it for a few weeks, really loved it, but I was really turned off by the difficultly levels. But now I'm in the mood for a realistic FPS and I installed it again (computer crash kiled my HD a few months back). However, the difficulty is STILL turning me off.

Does anyone know if there is a way to lower the standard difficulty level, or if there are some tips I could use? I find some of the levels past the first few getting pretty hard.

The one gripe I remember from when I played it alot: NIGHT VISION! Grr...in some of those dusk levels...:o

Well, I just did training and the first mission. Just reminded me of how fun this game can be.

Then I tried the second mission. All went well, I picked off a few soldiers. Then I was running top speed across the plain along with the rest of my unit, and some damn LAW (rocket launcher) Soldier launched a missile straight into my crew. Dead before I knew what hit me!

Even dying in this game can be fun, because its so realistic. Of course, dying can also be frusterating, because you get hit by someone you can't even see, dying before you know what the hell happened.

Like in real war. :p

Grr...I'm still stuck on the same mission. The goal of the mission is to get to the Evac Point before all the Helicopters leave. Problem is, you're stuck alone in enemy territory. You have to go through two forests to get there. I've gotten out of the first forest, and there is a long line of open space in between. But, there is a long line of bushes that you can crawl through to get to the other forsest. I so I was crawling along, happy that I got that far, when I noticed that there are some friendly Russians in there with me. I shot quickly at all three of them, made them drop. I began to crawl on before I realized one of them was wounded, not dead - and he shot be in the back. :o

I'm sick of this misison...why can't I skip missions!???!

Ooooooh ,THAT mission ,lol.Yeah ,that one is hard as hell ,even getting alive trough the wood's is hard on itself ,and then you have to run over open ground makin sure that the heli above you doesnt spot you.I tried to make it a few times over the open ground ,the tanks just get youre coordinates and come to kill you. They don't even shoot you ,the sarcastic buggers just ride over you. :D

A hint ,that hind is flying low and is quite hanging still in the air from time to time ,maybe a wel shot law (yes ,it's not AA ,but what the hell) an that heli is down ,and then you will find it easy to reach youre extraction point.

I'll admit that I used the CAMPAIGN cheat in a new Profile to play around after the mission. I'm still determined to beat it on my own. I think my main problem in my last attempt was this - when you have to run to that series of bushes, I saw two soldiers on a hill. I shot at them, and I thought I killed them. Ends up I didn't kill them, and I only drew the attention of the heliocopter and made them crawl down the hill to intercept me in the bushes. My second mistake was to keep on moving when the helicopter passed over me - in fact it shot at me once.

Damn that mission...I'm determined to beat it, but it gets boring after so many times...

That mission is pretty easy...but there are two versions.

1. Where you succeeded in the attack the night before then were retreated and then you end up in a forest. Tip is to fight the early assault on your position then head back towards the village you fled the Hind from last night (leave the Hind alone, it is mostly harmless) and you will find a Russian Jeep thing. Get in that and race to the "evac" point.

2. If you failed/pulled off the attack the night before you end up going another route which is alot further. My advice is once your squad gets wiped out, pull back away from the town (Montangac or something, god I've not played in a while) and run the forest routes to the evac point heading North for a few miles and then from memory eastwards before tracking South. Can take ages.

Your approach should be tempered completely by how able you are to go up against Russian squads. Personnally I usually attacked one squad alone and move through the gap vacated.

As for the battle the night before, my ploy was using the rifle propelled grenades to great effect against the enemy defensive positions. Once the town is taken then move North in the truck with your mates. Then make sure you quickly clear the hamlet of the BMP before you lose too many men, then take a stand against the Russian attack from the North, until ordered to flee. Then run like you've never run before! ;)

P.S for me the toughest missions was the Russian landing on Malden. The American position of the beach could be held well and I usually did a great job, but that meant my position gets cut off by the Russian army and infantry moving around the position. Too often was I shot in the back trying to make my way to the evacuation point which was through a screen of Russian infantry whilst being pursued by T72/T80s.

Easy? Bleh! That mission is very hard. I think my main problem is...well, I don't know! I think I just rush too much, not really looking out enough for guards.

Oh, and I've heard of a shortcut you can take in After Montingac where you can take a UAZ...what's the deal with that? I've never tried it...

I told you that in my post...in Figari (I think from memory) there is a UAZ which you can take and race at top speed past the enemies as you drive too quickly to be hit (much).
