Japanese stop attacks on the Roman backed Spanish empire.
Prelude
The Roman empire had been expanding for the last three hundred years on different islands. One of the islands was just north of the great Chinese empires, the second largest in the world, the first being Japanese after their successful conquest of Germany. The Roman Empire was the 5th largest empire, but was technologically advanced and militarily had the best trained and more advanced units.
In 1750ish the Chinese had discovered how to build destroyers and immediately dispatched two destroyers to harass Roman shipping on their(Chinese) northern border. Unfortunately what the Chinese found was no shipping. The Romans never used the sea between their border and the Chinese. So the Chinese instead order a raid against three Roman towns. Both destroyers were lost in the action. While the Romans lost nothing, the Roman people were in uproar.
The Plan
The leader of the Roman empire, had two options, ignore and risk a rebellion or retaliate. Luckily no formal peace treaty had been signed with the Chinese so no formal declaration of war had to be declared. But a full military incursion could not be iniated as the Spanish had request further military support in their war with the spanish and the Roman empire had lent the Spanish another 12 regiments.
A young Admiral came up with a plan. The Roman empire had recently built two battleships, which were veterans. The Spanish had requested that they were loaned to them in a last desperate attempt to repel the Japanese attack, but the Roman leader had another idea. He sent both of them into Chinese waters. They were tasked with neutralising the enemy naval power and take any opportunity that they could.
Operation Shark Tooth
Within months of arriving the battleships made their mark. In the first engagement the RMV Rome attacked a convoy of transports and two cruisers, instantly killing 14 regiments and five vessels. The Chinese responded with an relief force of three submarines and two destroyers to the area, but all five ships were sunk within days of arriving in the area.
Then the RMV Rome and the RMV Caeser both attacked populated cities along the coast causing 10 regiments to be destroyed. Both the cities could have been overwhelmed but the Roman generals had now another distraction, the Spanish had been forced out of Madrid and need more forces to take it back. The cities were left well alone.
A year of operations followed with limited fighting. The Chinese attempted to build up their forces in the mean time only sending a small force to counter the battleships.
The RMV Rome and RMV Caeser both went on the defensive when ten cruisers and submarines attacked them. All were destryoed but the Rome and the Caeser were damaged and the Roman senate were desperate for the Rome and Caeser to return home to repair and refit for a long voyage to the Spanish front. So two years after their initial deployment and after a kill count of nearly 30 land regiments and 40 vessels, the RMV Rome and RMV Caeser were both pulled out of the area.
Aftermath
The return of the Rome and Caeser was herald as a victory by the Roman government but the people rebelled at what they saw as a defeat. It was a main reason for a civil revolt just five years later, which plunged the empire into anachy. But in fact the operation had resulted in several beneficial results for the Roman empire, the Chinese rushed for a peace treaty and never again sent ships near Roman territory.
Additionally the Japanese saw the devastation that the Roman forces have caused and made peace with Rome and Spain a year later, even though there were large concessions on the Spanish side.
The effect on the Chinese were less evident. Their cities and their military had been weakened and they could never again attack the Romans, but they still remained very powerful and the government remained stable.
