Hello all!

I know this is a fairly common question, so apologies up front for the agitation.

I've been doing research and finally realized how much of a CPU-intensive game Civ5 is. And, my biggest issues with Civ5 is - you guessed it - late game slow down between turns. I used to attempt either a Standard or Large map with anywhere from 12-18 enemy civilizations, with awful slow down.

So, I'm currently trying to figure out the most appropriate choices in setting up a game, without sacrificing too much.

My current specs are:

Windows Vista 32-bit
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.21Ghz
3GB RAM
GeForce 8800 GTS 512

If anybody has a minute, could you suggest what graphics settings are probably ideal? I read elsewhere that some of the graphics settings themselves are not as important, the slow down is because of the size of the map and the number of AIs in play. Is that accurate?

Next game I'm thinking of setting up is a Standard size map with perhaps less city-states. Any suggestions there?

Thanks for your time.

CS are not the problem. I have had 24 without problems.

I only play with the most 6 AI. I would think the less AI, the less slowdown.
