Orthanc's Creation Thread

Well the Khaat's finally done, reason for the delay is explained in the thread, which can be found here.

Okay, it's on to the Skaven Deathburner now. Let the mayhem recommence!

I would've edited the last post for this, but then no one would've noticed the update.:D :bump:

So the Deathburner is already like, 75% done, model-wise. This thing might be done by like, tomorrow, since I don't have much else I'm doing right now, and current render time is 4 seconds!:D

Is that a boat or some kind of wierd-ass tank?

Good job on the modeling, though. I wish I had the kind of render times you do.... It's taking me about 45 minutes with my current poser project (Female Ranger with longbow).

Well some of these ships do look like they'd work better on land than in the water.

Heck, this might get done today, modelling is done at least. And you're quite welcome LizardmenRule!, these things are fun to make...

EDIT: It DID get done today, personal record! But by no means does that mean aaglo's off the hook entirely for making more units!

Here's the thread, hope you likey...

Ehh.. Goldflash always has Unit requests, such as a Barbary Corsair Galley..
Like this:

But not carboard!

Powered by oars and sails with one HUGE (40 pound or greater) cannon in the bow (Contemporary British warships had 14 pounders or so), were the scurge of the mediterrianen in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

I've got the Dhow, which I'm starting today, then the White SeeD ship, then the Danish 'Rolf Krake'. If you give me possibly a non-cardboard version of that ship Goldflash, even just a profile sketch (side view), that can be next in line.

Then I'll do that last Skaven ship for you LizardmenRule!

About the Dhow, how big is it, and how heavily armed, if at all, should it be?

Orthanc,

I've been to the Persian Gulf twice, where they still use Dhows as fishing boats, and from what I've seen is thus: Your average Dhow is about the size of a Schooner or Clipper ship (i.e. slightly larger than a skipjack or large yacht), and depeding on the age could be armed similarly to a schooner (if medieval) or with some light autocannons and heavy MG (if it is to be used as a modern terrorist vessel).

Well here's the Dhow so far, really there won't be too much deck detail, the sails will be where the fun is at here, obviously I haven't started those quite yet. Also decided to slap on a few cannons for good measure...

You're Dhow is looking good! Just how I would picture a 17th centruy military Dhow.... and believe me, I've seen plenty of Dhows in my time (now I just hope I don't have any nightmares about being on deployment in the Persian Gulf tonight).

ooh that dhow hull is coming along nicely! Love the small-caliber cannons.

Modelling's done, we all know what comes next.:D

Render time is significant by now, about fifteen seconds per frame, so this could be done either today or by saturday (usually I can't do too much on Fridays)

You mean an arrow attack as well? Yeah, I can do that.

EDIT: The Dhow's done, WITH the requested arrow attack included, and can be found here.

Hey, Orthanc. The dhow is an anciet design... maybe, in the future, could you do some more dhows? to precede this one in the tech tree as flavor units n' stuff. Well, whatever. I'm going to use most of your units in-game, so, yeah. You're awesome.

Like more modern Dhows? Maybe, but you'll have quite a while to wait, my to-do list has gotten fairly extensive. Also some pictures ahead of time always help.

Speaking of the to-do list, work on the White SeeD ship is underway, here's what I got:
