Well, this may not be fully relevant to Civ3, but it is preventing me from using the program. This weekend my iBook (dual usb 500 MHz version) suddenly started running about 2% as fast as normal (even with no programs running) and making occasional clicking noises (like the normal access sounds except much slower). It takes about 20 minutes to boot up now and similarly long times to do anything else. It even takes much longer than normal to get to the loading screen itself upon startup.
I suspect a problem with the Hard Drive (although in that case I am surprised that the computer runs at all), and the Hardware test disc spits out an Error Code: ata 1/6/8 HD: 2,0 when it gets to Mass Storage (but not every time I run it). However, the computer seems to make the same slow clicking noises when doing things which should not access the HD (like testing the logic board). Could this problem be related to the logic board or SW problems? I'm just asking here because the people on this board seem much more knowledgable about Macs than me. I hope I don't have to replace the HD since I am past the warrenty
