I played Rome TW, and I like it, but I don't think it appeals to me. I dislike the battles because they're too simplistic and the faction units are imbalanced. For example, the Romans have the best infantry and they'll swallow up all their neighboring factions. Some campaign map aspects don't work that well too.
Does one of the other Total War games have better AI if that's possible, better battles, and a simpler campaign map? I think Medieval 1 might be like this but I'm not sure because I haven't played any other TW games.

Have you tried the mods? hey vastly improve the game.

Europa Barbarium and Rome Total Realism are highly recommended although since their devs didn't bother making them for version 1.6 I can't play them. Darth Mod is another excellent mod.

Medieval 2 is a bit more balanced, except due to the company's weak AI they made the Mongols superhuman but they aren't playable except in certain mods (in which case they have been balanced). I highly recommend the Stainless Steel md for M2.

I have tried the mods, and I like them but I'm looking for another TW game. My computer probably can't run Medieval 2 though.

hmmmmmmmmm........ what kind of specs do you have? I think we could figure it out then.......

well......shogun's pretty hard find these days......

yeah....I just saw that today at Gamestop but I had no money....

I have an integrated graphics card so I guess for sure I won't run it. Unless somehow M2 can run on an integrated graphics card.

I wouldn't think so, integrated cards are evil. The 7900GT will run Medieval 2 quite well, even Call of Duty 4! And it shouldn't be very much (although the 8800GT is getting cheaper too, it's around $200-250 depending, possible to find sales too).

It depends! many intigrated cards are 6200,7200 or 8200

With everything on low my 6200 ran it like a charm

with my 8400 everything on high - antianthroscoping on 2X and everything is perfect.

Just 1 gig of ram a 2.5 ghz processor and a 50 dollar video card :D

The integrated graphics is one of those Intel ones. My computer does not have a PCI-E slot so if I would upgrade my graphics card I would have to upgrade my motherboard so I can't spend that much money.

I don't know, I have a copy as part of the "Sold Out Software" budget range. Seen it in stores a few times (at least twice, after I accidentally trashed my first copy :P) and you can get it on Amazon.co.uk and .com (I checked). Might be harder to get outside of the UK/US, though.

I'm actually not sure if my computer has an AGP slot or not. My computer is pretty old. How do you tell?

:cringe: I just accedently deleted my long detailed guide :cringe:

Oh well here are the bullet points.

Do you know how to open a computer? (and not get shocked ;))
If so just crack it open and have a look, Compare pictures of it with other pictures of agp slots etc online.

If you can't tell or don't know how to open it ask a coworker/friend/family member to have a look. ...... computer nerds love it when you ask them for advice ;)

Becarefull when you figure out what you got and what you need. Make sure you get it from a place where you can get a full refund fo an open box should their be a problem. Here is why.

1. Some cards are simply to large phyiscally to fit in a computer. For example my computer has space for a 8400 and 8500. Not enough room for a 8600 or a 8800.

2. Some cards need an extra power source. That is to say you can't just drop it in to the mother board, there is a thing (wire of sorts) in there that goes from the video card to the mother board to give it some extra juice. And not all motherboards have extra slots for it. ..... My card for example does not need another power source.

3. Some cards take up more energy than the pwer supply is capable of putting out. Some need at least a 250 watt supply - other at least 500 etc.

Hit me up if you need any more help and can not get anyone to look at it for you. - I'd really rather you not pay best buy 40 bucks for a installation that is simply and takes 5 or 10 minutes. We can walk you through it if we aboslutly must. Good luck :goodjob:

This is starting to turn into computer talk.
My computer has an AGP 8x graphics card slot. What does the "number"x mean? Can a 8x graphics slot fit a 4x/8x card or just an 8x card?

Either way, you'll be better off buying a new computer. AGP is really outdated now.

Oh, and I'd get an 8x card rather than 4x, I don't realy know the difference but the 8x is faster than the 4x.

I know that AGP is outdated but I can't buy a new computer because its too expensive.
AGP 8x is faster than 4x. What I meant was that there are graphics cards that say that its 4x/8x like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130076.
Does it mean that its it for 4x, 8x, or both?

well......for like 400$ you could easily get I thought........
