Hey all,

I am just curious about those god like figures that organize, contol and when nessessary lay the smack down of these forums. I would imagine you would have to really love civ if you would not only spend so much time on the game but also running the forums!

So, as your are browsinf tell us who are you and about your civ addiction ;)

Site feedback maybe?

AFAIK, some of them don't even play civ anymore, while some can't get enough.

Like Wildfire said - this really belongs in Site Feedback.

Moved. ;)

Anyway, all three of us Civ3 Forum primary moderators (Chieftess, myself, and Moonsinger) play Civ as much as we can manage I think.

The ladies can speak for themselves, but I manage to get in 3 - 10 hrs of playing every week. I'm not one of the *great* or even *good* players (I play on Regent normally), but I think I do understand much of how the game works. I actually spend much more time on the forums than I do playing. :)

Hi, Patroklos,

I am the one of the mods for the Civ3 Democracy Game.

Would you believe that I haven't finished a game of Civ3 since I joined these forums? I have started several, but I always seem to get dragged back into some debate taking place in our faux nation. It seems I like talking about Civ3 more than playing it.....

I am hoping to find the time to participate in a GOTM in the near future, if only to see if I know what I'm talking about..... :mischief: ;)

There is a "staff" PBEM going on isn't there? That counts for something...

I'm a civ player - a good one but not a great one if you ask my pbem partners. I have a few sneaky tricks. I usually play on Emperor - not one of the Deity gods yet (whisper Cracker, Moonsinger, Aeson .....)

I play all the GOTMs but havent submitted lately - time constraints. But mostly I just play cos I love Civ3.

I play smac, smac-x, and civII senarios, and friendly is not an adjective always applied to me.

Don't be so negative on yourself, Lefty. I like you... :mischief:

Anyway, I've always loved Civilization since the beginning (1993 or something). I've started here as GOTM admin, but handed over this task to Duke of Marlbrough (Civ2) and cracker (Civ3) due to...well...lack of interest to be honest. But during that period I've learned much about moderating, because I was mod myself and because I was able to follow staff discussions, so that's why I became mod of All Other Games.

I now mostly play PBEM's. But Civ3 has always fascinated me from the beginning. And I've grown a strong affection with CivFanatics during the last three years. ;)

By the way, my level is Monarch, in case you're interested.

I should probably check in here as well since this is a good place to contribute perspective.

I play about 40 to 60 hours of Civ3 each month, primarily in game testing for the GOTM and Medal Play Series games before they are released for play. In this role I may play the portions of the same game over and over again and again testing different patterns of aggresion and positions for key features on the game maps.

As an example, For Gotm24-Korea which just closed at the end of October, I began playing portions of the game back in July to test options for what would make a good game. I am currently in final play testing of both Gotm26 which will open on December 1st as well as Gotm27-"The Game of The Year" that will open for play on January 1st, 2004.

I would classify myself as a Demigod level player because I do not think I play well at Deity or Sid levels with the way the current bonus factors are applied to everything including wonders.

I also play Civ3 with my kids who are 7 and 10 years old.

Mods can only play civ, after they have filled up the secret mod-fridge with beer :D

and emptied it ;)

Wow, you actually had the courage to say that?

I'm surprised that any of these mods have time to play games since they were given these powers.

I would be extremely surprised if Chieftess drinks while moderating. In fact, she has often berated me for that very thing. ;)
