OCing or OverClocking:

Got my Duron 750 up to 990! Got a Abit KT7A-RAID Mobo and have it set at 110/36 MHz. Seems to be running stable....atleast Windows 2000 boots and I can access here! Couldn't do that at 1008 MHz. I guess I reached the limit of my processor. Still not bad for 50 dollar chip =D

Bah, still remember the good old time when I tried to overclock my IBM AT@12Mhz to 16Mhz! That ran incredibly faster... That was in 1994
Btw, one of my friends tried to overclock an Alpha chip, unsuccessfully, and also fried a GeForce3, while trying to overclock it. What a guy!

Well, being up for 2 days is good news, but I need to do a stress test on my computer to see if 990 is really stable. Anybody know of a freeware program that will stress out a computer for testing purposes?

Darn, gotta fix my sig.

You must have been in a time warp, GK! 12 MHz in 1994 is 5 to 6 years behind. The 12-MHz, 1 wait state generic PC began wide release in about March, 1987. I still have my first 12 MHz PC, but have not booted it in years.

I personally use a program called Prime95 to max out the CPU and test my overclocking, esp. for heat dissapation and stability. Prime95 is a free program that searches for Mersenne Prime Numbers using computers PCs around the world. I also have SiSoft's Sandra.

Mmmm, Sp. Int.??? Specially something, I think. No, I can't see. Would help me then, please captain?
LOL, "Spelling Intentional"... apologies for an obscure abbreviation? :D

lol, well suffered my first crash. The computer didn't come out of power save. But I have also loaded ZoneAlaram and I don't know which is at fault, the program or the overclocking.
