I've been having a bit of an issue with palettes and I was hoping someone who is better with them than I am could give me a hand.

Specifically the problem is with the civ colour, there are flickering pixels in areas with civ colour, but is most noticeable in areas with large portions of civ colour, such as capes. It also seems to be most noticeable in the default and with darker colours. My only idea is that it is due to a mismatch between the colour on the palette and that on the unit, although how to fix it is beyond me.

I have a bunch of unit packs containing a couple of units which have the problem, which are done save for the palettes, and I like to be able to release them soon. So any help would be appreciated. The relevant files are attached below should anyone need a look.

Balam-Agab... Not sure how you are applying the Palette or with what program but you can Block Out several of the Dark Civ Specific Colors on your Current Palette (Change them to Pure Green for example) then load that palette using Nearest Color Matching and that will smooth out the Civ Colors better on the Cape.

You are correct about the mismatch between the Civ colors on the palette and on the unit. You can experiment with the Civ Colors and Block out what you do not want...you could just use the Top Row of Civ Colors for example as those are graduated Colors and will go together smoother from light to dark.

I am attaching the Attack Flc along with your Palette that I Blocked out some of the Civ Colors with Green.

This is a Screen Shot of the Civ Colors I changed to Green:

Hi Vuldacon

Is that Paint Shop Pro?

What system are you running? (I am no longer able to run PSP on my Win7.)

I’d love to help out with Balam-Agab’s palette issue, but I just don’t know how to do that in Gimp.

Cimbri... Yes I use PSP 9 and I have many other Much more expensive programs that I could use and have for the Civ Game but PSP is the best I have ever found for the work.

I am running XP Pro, System 64 and no problems.

Gimp is a free program that I will not put down, although I have never used it.

Programs are all good in the hands of those that can use them well.

Remember aaglo used povray... very difficult,
yet he made Great Units with it from his experiences and long time working with that program. Hat's off to him for his successes.

..we get what we pay for and free does have problems :)

I can actually run PsP 7 on my Windows 7 machine with no problems.... I think you can get 7 either for free or really really cheap.

Just FYI....
