"past events have drawn our people apart"

for some reason, a leader who was pleased with me suddenly dropped down to cautious because of past events, but i do not recall a random event occuring that had a negative effect on our relations. is this a bug or is this a feature of History Rewritten?

It's the generic attitude description, used for all modded attitude changes. In HR this includes attitude changes from civil wars, tenet compatibility, the Diplomatic trait, humanitarian missions, the Taj Mahal, and BTS random events. I hope to eventually give all of these separate messages, though unfortunately this won't be possible on Mac.

In your game, the most likely reason for the sudden attitude change is a change of religion or reformation that one of you underwent.
