Patch 1.332 Loading times issues

Hiya

Long time lurker first time poster etc etc,

Has anyone else found that, whilst I find the game much more fun actually, it now takes ages to load in a saved game?

I used to just make a cup of tea but today it took 40 mins to load a save?!
It was a later game one but that is just daft..

Has anyone else experienced this?

At least one user had the same issue (here), but no idea if it's a general problem.

Sometimes I mash the mouse and it will load, otherwise it would never show the 'continue your journey' thing.

Holy crap! Seriously? That's insane. Does your computer barely meet the minimum specs? Is it a Huge Map, late in the game?

That's really insane.

Is your hard drive completely full? That might be forcing the game to swap like crazy if you don't have a lot of ram?

Good luck! And I encourage you to submit a tech support ticket with 2K so you can make them aware of the problem.

I don't have 'Deepthought' or anything but it ran ok pre patch, map is standard continents, HDD is pretty full but it was before, maybe I'll make some room and defrag.....

Can you post the save game here? I wonder if it also takes long on my computer (which isn't particularly good), so we try to find out where the problem lies?

Doesn't seem to be endemic though, it must be my setup...

I've been experiencing this loading saved MP games on a system that's barely spec.. although I just let it try for 10 minutes before I assume the file's corrupted or something and give up on it.

Haven't tried the mouser mash though.

Mouse mash didn't do it for me, unless I wasn't mashing it enough!?

I assumed my England game had died, started a new one (as Aztecs[first go]) and loading that also went for ages so i decided to just leave it and hey presto it loaded ................................................eventually

With me it's the other way around... It takes me about 70% or 75% of the time it took to load before.

I have a full set of DLC, but no user-created mods.

I recently reformatted my PC, and after reinstalling Civ V and copying my old saves from my backup to my new Civ V installation, I found those games loaded extremely slow. Not forty minutes slow, but it definitely took a couple. I've found that the issue only came up when loading the saves my previous installation, any new games created since my reformat load at normal speed.

I know it's not the same, but do game created after the patch take just as long as the existing game you're trying to load?

I've only played new games post patch, it's got me interested in playing again..

I ran a defrag analysis last night and it's pretty bad, i'm going to try running that and see if that helps and it's just a coincidence that my HDD filled up and the saves were fragmented everywhere just as the patch was released...

because it happened at the same time I was wondering if it was a 'feature' but it seems like it's not especially widespread.

I'll post up whatever happens after defrag..

I've noticed the same since the patch, turns seem to be a bit quicker but loading saves seems to be a little longer....its not horrendously bad but its definitely a longer load time than pre patch

So I defragged and then attempted to load in the game only to be met with the 'Incomplete installation 55' problem. I have reinstalled everything, tried the Steam suggested fix to no avail....so I can't play the game at all now

Yes this is me as well, been stuck at this point, trying every possible solution, for close to a week now. A fanatic without his civ. I've actually been looking at *gasp* other games.

I've just posted a ticket on 2K support; my steam support ticket has so far received no response after about 4 days.

For me this started with a standard size earth map...for a while I was putting up with the 20 minute load times, but then I decided that was ridiculous. Un- and reinstalling the game has gotten me to this point of its being completely unplayable--well, not even launchable. I'm not sure but it seems there may be a couple other players who are running into this as well....

P.S.: it's not my system, I have played civ 5 with no issues from its release through to a week or two post-patch. Including loading MP saves.
