patch 109 now out

If you have problems after the patch just uninstall and install again after deleting all civ4 folders.
or just put the art.fpk file pack in the main civ folder and the game will use that again, that fixed everything for me.

no i have had problems prior 2 the installation of the patch and after, i still, dont know whats my problem with it....

Well it is too early to tell for me. Since the game worked for the most part in single player for me. I need to see how it works in multi-payer which is where it was freezing up.

I could not update the game IN the game. That would freeze up my system. I downloaded the patch online and installed it with an error that I had to ignore to get it to finish.

This is so sad that they can't even get a decent patch to run correctly.

All this tells me is in one word...GREED!

I also got nothing when I try to download it in game. I also have another question. Does anyone else get a "wrong disc error" when they put in the cd that says play on it? My game will only start with the install disc. Kinda odd. I would have thought that to play the game I need to use the disc that says play .

so how can i download it???
just bought it, getting the file not found error when clicking on the startup icon... radeon 9800 SE...
where the heck do i get that patch from????

It is really stupid.I pay the frigin game and install but cant load it.It say i need to put apropiate cd in cd-rom and my game is on dvd.How the heck can i download any patch if it is only downloadable inside the game?
So pls can somebody put that patch on internet?PLS?
50 post and 25 of them is i just download the patch and still waiting and toher 25 posts are i install new patch and it dont fix anything.C mon guys get sirious.Lots of ppl got more serious problem like WE CANT EVEN START THE STUPID GAME.I want my money back with interests.

Patch works great for me.
I uninstalled CIV4, reinstalled, patched and reset my settings (video, sound) and game runs faster than ever. No probs so far.:goodjob:
Dell Inspiron 8200, P4, 1gig, Nvidia GEFORCE 2Go

Downloaded the patch from CivFanatics. The installer complained about CRC error, but patch installed anyway.

Haven't done any trick, but the game still doesn't work. Luckily my workstation runs the game.

My setup is Acer TravelMate 4650 with XP sp 2, 512MB RAM, GeForce6600go.

Game still crashes after few turns and reboot the whole laptop. Driver upgrades/downgrades doesn't work for me as the go-version graphic chips uses propriety ones tailored by the laptop maker :nuke:

Well maybe some day...

I agree with the comments about the extreme disappointment caused by this game.

Could not update in-game.
Downloaded from CFC.
Installed without errors (took a good while).
Some InstallShield temp folders were created and did not vanish after installation, I deleted these manually.
I have movies disabled in ini file, did not compare their performance.

Shock: a popup window on starting: Your machine is below minimum specifications. Civ4 will not run on this hardware setup.

Clicked OK - game continues normally.

I have Intel graphics (82852/82855 GM/GME). This patch fixes the black terrain (although pigs/horses sometimes vanish) and leader heads (although some eyes look weird).

Some things the patch fixed for me:
- The intro movie now plays without sound skipping
- Can actually START a map (as long as it's standard size)

Some things the patch didn't fix:
- BSOD
- haywire graphics the moment I meet another civ, found a religion (sorry can't even get to the point where I can build a wonder).
- Can't start a "huge" map (just blows up to 1.8GB of Virtual Memory and 100% CPU)

System: AMD w/Geforce3

So, it's still no go for this game for me

I'm using Win98 and the patch installed with no problems. :smoke: I haven't been experiencing any crashes on my computer after copying city_titlearrows.tga from \resource\civ4\custom to \resource\civ4\HUD. Maybe I could finally get it to work with my Radeon 9800, I had to use my Ti4200 to get past the 'failed to init renderer' because the unpakker is only for XP.

1.09 fixed absolutely nothing for me. I still have horrible lag and get random CTDs. It doesn't seem like they fixed the memory leak.
I'm very reluctant to delete the "My Games" directory, because I don't want to lose my saved games.
My specs:

3.0Ghz p4 processor, Windows XP Pro
1.0 GB RAM
256MB Nvidia Geforce FX5500 graphics card (overclocked)

Might it have something to do with the fact that I'm playing a saved game that had been started during version 1.00?

I have since installed the 1.09 patch. The Single Player works fine.

After receiving latest save file for my PBEM, it comes to part where I have to input my password and after I do, then click ok, nothing happens. I can keep clicking ok and ditto..nothing changes. If I click cancel, password screen goes away and then
initialization completes, screen goes black a sec and I am back to Main
Menu!

How do I resolve this? Thanks

Argh, This patch made things WORSE for me. Before the videos like the intro videos skipped every few seconds, now its so much worse that i cant see any of the opening video. Im not sure about ingame videos because the game constantly crashs now WHEN IT DIDNT BEFORE THE PATCH. arrgh. im about to uninstall and reinstall so I can get rid of the patch.

Hi , I'm just install the patch 1.09 .
Doesn't fix my black terrain.
I'm using the RADEON IGP 320M .
Anyone can help me ???.

Patched to 1.09 and I'm still getting random CTD's and blue screening. Sent the crash logs to 2k Games for all the good that does.

The game is unplayable for me at this point.

I just installed the patch this evening. Everything went fairly smooth until I started playing one of my saved games. After playing several turns, I went to save the game, but it wouldn't let me change the name of the save file; it was as if my keyboard wasn't working (but that wasn't the problem, I later discovered). So I quit the game and restart, and reload the game... and the problem reappears when I try to save again. So I quit again, restart my computer, reload Civ4, reload the game, and that seemed to fix the problem.

After about 6-8 turns of play, the problem resurfaces, but in another place. I tried renaming one of my new units (I am playing the Romans and giving them latin-esque names) but when the dialog comes up to enter the new name, I can't type anything into it. I try several times, but it doesn't work. And again, if I save my game, I can't rename the filename.

But then by accident I discovered what was going on. I tried to rename a unit again... and that's when I noticed that each key I typed was performing a hotkey action! This was happening even though I had clicked into the text box and got a blinking cursor... it was still transferring all keypresses to the game screen as hotkeys instead.

This isn't a total gamebreaker, but it is extremely annoying (it kinda ruins the flavor of my current game; I'll probably shelve it until this is fixed and play a new game)... the more annoying part is not being able to rename my save games (which I like to do sometimes to annotate particular events). However, I imagine this could become a gamebreaker if I tried to play in multiplayer mode and couldn't type any text in the chat dialogs...

Has anyone else had this kind of thing happen?

Oh yeah, it also set the date back in my game by about 20 years for some strange reason...
