Patch destroyed my game

I go to start up Civ and have to sit and wait for Steam to install a patch that isn't a patch. Finally the game starts, I load my current game and this is what I see:

Graphical glitch, has been in the game since ever. Just reload.

I did. Twice. I even verified the game cache. And restarted Civ V. Twice. It's not just graphical. I can't move the ships on land so the game thinks they actually are ships.

I tried reloading the autosave from the start of the turn and got the same thing except the ships were put into the ocean and the land units were put onto land.

Looks like I'll have to load the initial autosave if I want to play this game.

The image shows up for me still. It shows my game as Polynesia with my Pikemen turned into Ship of the Lines, my Galleys turned into Immortals and my Caravels turned into Hoplites. There is also one unit that got turned into an Ironclad.

So mostly it shows sea units on land and land units in the water. I went to the next turn and all sea units were transferred either to cities or into the water and the hoplites were put on the nearest land mass.

I tried reloading, I verified the game files I tried everything but the game was fried.
