Patches, Main Mods, Mass Confusion, Oh My...

Hello,

First, I'd like to start off by saying how much I enjoy FFH2;

Ok, that out of the way, onto the problem at hand...

I have Civs 4 Complete edition, BTS version 3.17.

I installed FFh2 and at first, i had a hard time getting it started, but eventually I did get it, after moving the mod to the beyond the swords mod folder... should of done that first, but oh well...

I then tried to install Patch "A"; upon running the patch, it tells me that "Setup cannot find an existing version of Fall from Heaven 0.41. The main mod needs to be installed before this patch can be applied."

Well, if i'm playing Fall From Heaven which I had gotten from here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=1

which is version 0.41 isn't it??

why am I having this problem??

The patch a is bugged in that regard. You have to 7-zip it.

7-zip?? I'm familiar with Winzip; and just so I understand, you want me to download Patch A, and Zip it? then unzip it and install it?? Please provide more details...

You need to have a 7-zip program to unpack a 7-zip packed file (I think). Make a search for it and you will find a download for it.

I have to 7-Zip what file? and I have to Zip it, or Unzip it? if it's unzip, there's no file to unzip, it's an executable file. No zipping involved.

Where do i get this 7-zip file?? If it's the patch, it's not zipped... It's an executable file...

I've already googled 7-zip; found a download for it, but nobody has yet to tell me what I'm doing with this. Again, The patch is an executable file, it's not zipped... Am I zipping it?? then Unzipping it??

You can open FfH2041A.exe (the around 5 mb patch) with 7-zip and then extract the files to either a temporary directory or where they belong.

That's the kind of details i wanted... However, when you mention "or where they belong." I'm going to try the temp directory first, to install the patch. if that doesn't work, what directory should I use?? the BTS Mods folder?? or the BTS\Mods\Fall From Heaven 2 Directory?

Yup. The files in the patch replaces files so it should be fairly easy to locate the "old" ones.

ok,

My Plan of attack:

Putting the exe on my desktop, opening it with 7-zip. Then if everything that your saying is true, it should install with no problems, correct?

if that doesn't work... should i try to put it into this directory? then open it with 7-zip from there?

C:\Program Files (x86)\2K Games\Firaxis\Sid Meier's Civilizations IV Complete Edition\Beyond The Sword\Mods\Fall From Heaven 2\
