Just dipping my toe into trying mods for Civ4 colonization and I'm having trouble. Many mods require patch 1.01f, but when I try running the executable, I get an error message that a version of Civ 4 is not installed.

I am trying to run TAC for starters, but after running the executable, there are no mods listed under "advanced">"load a mod"

I got my copy of Civ4 from GoodOldGames, if that is any help. I appreciate any help.

EDIT: My version number is 101
build number 1.0.0.1

Do I even need to patch?

I think that is the newest version. I've got that version and I did get TAC to work. I had a similar problem with TAC mod not appearing under advanced> load a mod.

For me the TAC installer exe had copied the files into the wrong folder (I assume because I'm using a much newer version of windows than what was around when that installer was written). I had to move the files manually. I've got the steam version so the exact location will be different to the GOG version but maybe you have the same problem.

But I found the colonization.exe file which runs the game, went to a mods subfolder (steam created a funny shortcut called "_Civ4CustomMods", not sure if the exact name will be the same for you), and put the TAC 2.03_final folder that the installer created inside there. Then the mod appeared and worked.

Edit - I'm reading that people recommending finding the folder that holds the colonization.exe file, and creating a subfolder from there called Mods, then putting TAC 2.03_final in there instead. Otherwise "something will go wrong eventually". That also lets the mod show up in advance > load a mod for me.
