Okay,, before I start using CIV4 as a coaster,, I need to vent..
If you are going to continue to patch CIV4,, keep Video patching seperate from Gameplay patching !!!!!
Patch 1.09 helped a lot of those with video problems.. but then along comes 1.52 that presented new video problems ( due to video vs system memory changes) that some never had with the original release and 1.09..
So just use 1.09 you say... well the problem is compounded by the fact that 1.52 made gameplay changes and design structure changes too..
Mods that worked fine under 1.09 do not work under 1.52..! So now Mod makers are updating to 1.52,, that many can not use..!!
Its not a hard concept,, video patching is always "hit and miss",, gameplay patching and tweaking is never a problem...

And, of course, both gameplay and graphics code is in the same executable and both do make quite extensive use of each other so it's a piece of cake to change both separately - NOT.

So you'd want Firaxis to provide patches for each possible combination of gameplay and technical changes? Honestly, I wouldn't hold my breath...

np: Flanger - Crime In The Pale Moonlight (Short Version) (Spirituals)

Those files pertaining to Video patching is almost always totally seperate from simple design files like Interface changes and gameplay tweaks..if that wasn't the case the game wouldn't even be Modable at all..:p
No i'm not going to hold my breathe,, but your comment that its all contained in the exe file is ridiculous,, talked to several programmers already,, its not THAT hard ... just takes foresight and consideration..
