@col - Thanks in advance for your willingness to help.

The general concepts for the game are outlined in the first post in this thread. Specifically:
- continents large enough for two civs (one team), with each civ having room for a ring of 5-7 cities. The starting locations should be equal and unassigned (i.e., to allow random assignment).
- every continent will have two iron, two horses, two coal, two rubber, two saltpeter, ONE oil, ONE aluminum, and ONE uranium (am I missing any?)
- every continent will have a monopoly on two luxuries (to encourage trade)
- there will be one open continent in the middle of the map that has two each of oil, aluminum, and uranium, plus one of each luxury
- the game will be played with PTW, no barbs, all victory conditions, no culturally linked starts, and with culture flips
I know this requires some effort/amendment of a random generated map. That's why I was willing to take it on. I had no intent of gaining an advantage in the game. Heck, if it makes everyone happy, I'll generate, edit, and post the complete map before we start the game. That leads to . . .
@everyone - This game is not intended to be a plain ol' generic game of Civ3.

If that were the case, I would have posted a request for 4-5 individuals willing to play, would have generated a random map, and we'd already be underway. Instead, I wanted to try a game whereby two people who don't really know each other have to work
cooperatively against other human teams. Variant games like this require special rules, maps, resource distribution, etc. The detailed rules and even resources distribution were intended to
simplify the game, not complicate it. The intent was to allow each team even footing to produce whatever units they want and to get into a position to begin putting their strategy (peaceful or bloody) into effect with more of a focus on diplomacy and tactics and less of an emphasis on having to go search for/acquire resources. The teamwork side of the game will be difficult enough with even resources and would likely bog everything down

with randomness thrown in.
I hope y'all can see where I'm coming from. If this concept is not attractive to you, then we either need to keep discussing/refining it or scrap the whole thing. :suicide: I hope we can stick with the game and make it work.
edit: clarified the map parameters for col, who has no idea what he's allowed you guys to drag him into
