1) What prevents other players from just saving the pbem game file under a new name (a copy), opening it up, and entering worldbuilder to see where you are?

2) Is the world builder dissabled in PBEM?

k...stupid me just realized that the answer to this question was just a few threads down. But I have another question...

I tried to start a PBEM game this morning. I took my first turn and then, later on, loaded up the game again because I wanted to take a look at where I was. It loaded up thinking that I was the next player and I saw the starting position of the next player. Anyone know how to prevent this and still be able to load up a game to look at where you are, not your oponants?

You can set up passwords for each player. This works good except first turn and...

...I have found that you can load a PBEM game from singleplayer game without any password protection :(

wow...can you say "broken"?

You really have to trust the person setting up the game! If you simply set up a game, give everyone passwords, email the game out to the next player, and then re-load and end turn without sending it you can play the game as each player because you know their passwords...even if they change them, you have a copy of the first turn where all their passwords are what you inputted.

It's the honour system

How does knowing their password before they changed it give you access to the current turns? I haven't tested it but that just doesn't make sense. Also I do trust the person setting up the game - I don't even know him but would it really be fun for that person if he/she cheated that way? I don't know, call me old fashioned by I trust people until they give me reason not too - off course that has bitten me in the butt a few times. Anyways I ramble on.

It doesn't give you access to current turns. What it does do is lets the begining player play the game as each player untill the map is revealed. In other words, the begining player can start off with a map of the game.

I see the light! :) yeah that is kinda bad now isn't it.... if I catch anyone cheating I have lots of frequent flyer miles saved up! :crazyeye:
