I was interested in the relative pace of Peaceful versus Violent OCC so I made some rough graphs of recent China (Peaceful) and Norway (Violent) games. These are not 100% precise as I did not record science every turn, but they are decent represenations of how the two styles compared.
Here is cumultative science for the China game. The vast majority comes from the city, and it ramps up in an almost exposnential fashion as the spt rate continues to grow for almost the entire game. Religion (via Cross-CUltural Dialogue) makes a difference, but I was never able to get anywhere near the 200+spt reported in some R&F games by players like @Boyan_Sun. Two Great Scientists that provide single bursts of science chipped in two large chunk gains (I only tallied these, not Great Scientists who do something like boost Libraries, which would be represented in the city curves instead)..
Compare this to Norway, where pillaging ends up being roughly equally important to domestic science and really picks up as the game progresses (it is a bit of a snowball effect as pilaging scales to tech/civic progress and the science/culture from pillaging help advance both). In this game, religion was less useful and we only had one Great Scientist. But, Fez was a real powerhouse, with some late game conversions provigins 200 or more science each.
Here is a little graphic that compares the science rate in a peaceful versus violent OCC game, just from the city. China was slightly ahead in tech rate for most of the game. Near T240, China completely crushes Norway since China was gaining +15% from Geneva and at full happiness while Norway was suffering major war weariness. Of course, that barely mattered because Norway won 26 turns earlier.

nally, this graphic compares cumulative science including pillaging, Fez, religion, and Great Scientistcs. China is slightly ahead for most of the first 150 turns. Norway begins pulling ahead rapidly from T150 onwarsa as pillages start being worth >100s each, almost a full turn of domestic science output. Things keep pulling farther and further away in Norway’s favor as the game goes on and pillages escalate to ~350s at the end of the game (with Total War card)
On T253 when the Norway game ends, Norway is almost 20,000 science ahead of China. However, China can close the gap in about 30 turns thanks to the excellent late game tech rate. Notice the Norway game finishes with more “lifetime” science than the China game. Some of this may be due to imprecise record keeping (I only jotted down science rate every 20 turns or so in the China game so it is a rougher estimate). But a chunk at least is due to needing to complete less techs to hit Offworld Mission in the China game and continuing to pillage a bit in the Norway game even after hitting the (later) Offworld Mission tech.
