When playing the game, and you start talks/diplomacy with outher leaders, there´s an automatic peace treaty signed fo 10 turns. Annoying, when all you really want is to attack the bastard; and your innitial contact is no more than a "feeler"; and it results an irritating 10 turn wait, cause you´ve allready rolled all of your units to smoke him.

You don't have to sign the peace treaty when you first meet.....just declare war then and there!

Not a bug.

The first screen it brings up when you meet a new civ asks you whether you want peace or war. If you want to attack immediately, why not just declare war then?

Not a bug? If a meet a leader in and chose "peace is the way" (i then look at "deals we have" (no peace-treaty), then after ´100 turns a whant to declare war, only problem is that i can´t, suddenly we have a peace-treaty!!!! This happens really often to me and it's super anoying.
You can't say that this is normal?? (started happaning in bts)

Maxfogh is your complaint for the situation where you've just met the civ or not? If so I could understand your concern because you couldn't declare war in 5 turns instead of 0 or 10. But I honestly cannot think of any cases where I have wanted to declare war on a civ within ten turns of meeting them!

If the issue you have is with regular negotiations (ie. not after having just met them), this is very much a feature. You'd need to do some more convincing for why this should be changed...

EDIT
Hammarn I just noticed your post. Do you have the 3.03 patch? This problem has not been reported before this thread was created. And just to clarify, are you saying that just entering the negotiation table and not making any deals causes an automatic peace treaty? If it's doing that then it's definitely a bug. Could you explain a little bit more clearly what you mean?

Yes its a feature; as i said before, whenever a demand is accepted a peace treaty is signed.

No i don't have the new patch (i had some problems with that)
Well, one time this happend, for som reason i had i peace-treaty with Brennus, the a saw the "Deal canceld" messege so i think "yes finely letäs kick his celtic ass!!!" Then i enter the diplomecy and cheek "deals we have" (just to be sure), and ofc we no longer have a peace-treaty, but when i then when i go to "let's disscus something else" the war option isn't ther!!! I then went back to "deals we have" and now we have a peace-treaty!!!
I didn't make a deal with him and i didn't even exit the diplomecy!

lol I was actually asking whether you had the patch because that might have been the issue - not because it might fix it.

The situation you're describing is very strange and I'm still not sure I completely understand what you mean. Try this though. Try ALT + clicking on his name in the bottom right corner of the screen (where the scores are). ALT + clicking should declare war. This bypasses the diplomacy screen entirely.

You might need to post a gamesave and list the steps to reproduce.

I haven't tried declaring war yet in BtS, but I can report a similar peace treaty bug. Every now and then in 3.02 I see a bogus message "Peace treaty with [another civ] has been cancelled" when I have never had a war with them. It happens about every 50 or so turns with a randomly selected competitor and doesn't appear to affect anything. But maybe it's related.

Yes i have seen that to and it's absolutly related, the Brennus thing was a extrem case of what you are describing.

Btw "I haven't tried declaring war yet in BtS", what? Did you get the game an hour ago or what;)

It was stated several times before in this thread, that is NOT a bug.

@jray:
Every time you agree to a demand of an AI or a AI agrees to one of your demands a 10 turn peace treaty is signed.

@Hammarn:
I am pretty sure you are trying to declare war to someone after a demand (either by them or you was) met.

This feature is in place that you cant demand money, tech or whatever tribute from a civ and then declare war to them nevertheless.

That does sound strange. Have a savefile?

You do not need to go into negotiations to check current deals with foreign leaders -- this can now be accessed via the diplomacy screen (F4, I believe is the hotkey.)

Well, i could have done so but i whanted to make sure that the peace-treaty was over(well yes i whould had found out so your way to but i simly didn't do that)

Well guys, this meens that I no longer can pull my old "rob him, then declare war" trick....to bad it's so mutch fun:(

Peace-treaty after every deal then? How very anoying;) Sorry if i wasted your time with this:)

Did you read his post completely?

I agree he's probably doing something like what you describe but as it is the problem Hammarn is explaining does not appear to be the same one that you are describing.

@Hammarn, are you going into diplomacy and demanding things before you go to war? This could be a habit from older civ games. Making a demand and having them give in to the demand forces a 10 turn peace treaty. If this is not the problem you're experiencing you WILL need to elaborate more on your problem, preferably with some gamesave or screenshot evidence. Otherwise it is too difficult to pinpoint what is going on.

Hmm i thougt i made myself cler in my last post, yes I understand that you get a peace-treaty if you acept a deal, yougays are right.

Pieceofmind, yes this is the problem I was describing, however the Brennus incident is a diffrent thing becuos after the peace-treaty was ended i didn't make any new deals with him. No i don't have any gamesave to prove the situation.

Ok I think it's time to end this subject, thanks for your help:)

Ah, okay. I just didn't read enough posts. Sorry for being so thick-skulled :). This convention just took me by surprise, since it wasn't in Warlords, and I didn't notice it anywhere in the doc.

So I wonder if this could be used as an exploit: Demand 1g from each Civ on your vulnerable fronts just before you start a war. If they give in, then you get 10 turns where you don't need to worry about your weak borders.

Now that a very intresting idea...very intresting indeed..:yumyum: :yumyum:

Well, why should they give in to the demand? Even if its just 1g, if they are strong enough to give you some trouble they i guess they wont even give you 1g. You may even get a negative modificator for your relations, which would be even worse for your war plans.

Oh, sorry. I missed that post for some reason. I'm glad it was sorted out then. So Scotsh was spot on in saying this is not a bug - I was misunderstanding the situation you were describing. In particular I took the wrong understanding from your statement, "I didn't make a deal with him and i didn't even exit the diplomecy!"
