I've made a scenario of the Peloponnesian War; C3C only.

Playable civs:

Attica (Athens and Delian League)
Sparta (Sparta and her allies)
Epirus (Neutral states)

There is also the CPU civ Persian Empire, with whom Epirus is in a locked alliance for coalition victory. Democracy is available with alphabet; diplomatic and conquest victories are possible (United Nations = Ephialtes' Democracy). There are elite units available with Currency, and Dromon (now "Fire Galley") is available to all civs, along with Three-Horse Chariot.

Please post comments! :)

Edit: I have changed the names etc. varwnos suggested, Jul 15 2005.

Edit 2: I have changed the names varwnos suggested, Jul 16 2005.

Edit 3: I have added improvements (mine etc.), made all units free on governments, and changed city sizes, Jul 19 2005.

This looks very cool and i will be trying it later tonight :)
there are some mistakes though:

-you forgot to add the city Elis (very important city in the north-western Peloponnesos)
-the persian controlled cities in northern Greece are all wrong im afraid, Kavala was founded a lot later, and is much more to the east, same with Xanthi, which is even further to the east; Adrianople was founded by Hadrian, and, again, is to the east and north.
-Im not sure what Salmydessus is.
-Aenos, iirc (i could be wrong) is in the black sea coast.
-you should replace Hermopolis (not sure if it really was there) with Delos, which was one of the most important cities in that era.
-Replace the city "Cephalonia" (which is the island's name, and not a city) with "Same".
-Replace "Cardamyle" with "Gytheion", which was the second most important spartan city, and the main port

edit #2:

-i am not sure about the island city "Myrina", but you could replace it with Ikos, another island city in that area, but like i said i dont know if the one you have is wrong or not.

-"Cardamyle" is a city in Chios (but youa re right to have the city there named "Chios" because the main city in the island had the same name as the island, still does today.

-you could replace "Thyra" with "Minoa", since i am not sure if Thera was a city/ was important.

Congratulations on making the scen, i am only informing you of these corrections so as you can make it even better :D

Peloponnesian War??

erm.... it was on my required reading list, but I kind of skipped it.

Will that matter when playing this scenario?

Thanks very much varwnos for your suggestions. :goodjob:

1. I will add in Elis.
2. Sorry about the Persian cities - I discovered (after having made the map) that there wasn't enough room in Anatolia for any more than about four Persian cities, and I wanted them to be more powerful! Therefore, I decided to include Thrace in Persia. There was only one problem, though - I couldn't find a map of Thracian cities anywhere - the only one was this really old 1950s one which had the single city "Salmydessus". This explains the more modern city names. If you have any suggestions for Thracian city names, please post them!! :crazyeye:
3. I think Aenos is right, because I have two different maps which say it's there.
4. I'll change it to Delos.
5. I'll rename it Same (all these names you would know a lot more about than me - I'm having to just get them from an atlas, but you live in the country! :) ).
6. I'll change it to Gytheion.
7. I think Myrina exists, but it was on the 1950s map so I'll change it to Ikos.
8. I'll get rid of Cardamyle.
9. Thera is meant to be the modern island of Santorini which (according to my 1950s history atlas) was neutral along with Melos; I'm going to leave this.
10. Thanks! I hope after this it'll be much better. ;)

To etherealcat:

It won't affect playing - the scenario is kinda simple: you choose either Attica (Athens and allies), Sparta (Sparta and allies) or Epirus (neutrals). Attica has more territory and a quite powerful military, Sparta has less territory but a slightly more powerful military, Epirus is neutral with a powerful but defensive military. Persia also has a powerful military - it's a CPU-controlled civ. It can be quite a fun game once you get into it! :) It's designed to last only the Ancient Time, though, so don't expect to be attacking Sparta with a Mech Infantry!

Here is a screenshot. (Btw, I've fixed all the city names - except Thrace  !)

Hi again :) i havent still got the time to play the scen, but i have a few more suggestions ;) (the final ones!!!)

-rename "Daphnus" to "Opos" (Opus, but Opus is latin, Opos is greek)
-rename "Panormus" to "Helike"
-definately rename Cleonai to "Epidauros" (spartan controlled); Cleonai was important but it wasnt coastal
-I dont know what city "roeteum" is, but i think that Pergamos (latin: Pergamus) was there
-Heraklion (in Crete) probably was there at the time but it wasnt that important, i suggest that you move it one tile to the south (but then it wont be a port) and rename it to Knossos, and if you want a port in Crete then place "Kydonia" in the north-western part of the island, near the western edge, one tile from the edge in fact.
-rename "Beroia" to "Ktimene" (i think that it was neutral). Beroia was founded a lot later.
-rename "Abdera" to "Amphipolis" (it was Athenian controlled in the beginning of the war, but fell to Sparta)
-rename "Thrace1" to "Philippoi"
-rename "acanthus" to "Olynthos" (which was the regional capital)
- i suggest that you delete thrace2 and thrace3 :(
-rename "Salmydensus" to "Nestos" (although it was a bit more to the south) (persian controlled)
-rename "Scione" to "Potidaia".

edit: i removed the map, since it turns out it was full of some rather pathetic propaganda. But the city sites are what you wanted, and for that it is ok :)
Ok, thats all i think :)

Thank you very much for your info, varwnos! :goodjob:

I will change all that you suggest, but I want to keep Thrace2 and Thrace3: Persia really needs more cities! :D Thanks v. much for the map - it's really useful. I'll try to find the names of some other Thracian cities. In my next update I'll also delete the Galleys in the sea (they're a bit pointless).

Ok, the new file is ready to download. I really wanted to keep the Thracian cities to ensure the Persian presence was felt and affected gameplay, so I deleted Thrace 3 but kept Thrace 2 and renamed it "Philippi" (from varwnos's Macedonia map), with the more northern city "Philippopolis". I've also deleted the pointless Galleys.

I have changed some things to make the scenario more playable. Here is a new screenshot (Sparta has just captured Naupactus). :)

I would love to hear comments from anyone who has actually played the scenario; I'm thinking of increasing the Persian military, but I'd like a second opinion before I meddle with it!!
