So this is new and innovative and not dumbed down? People who smile the most? Really? This sounds so childish and imature.

Do you guys and gals actually agree with this? Every time I try to find an excuse to buy the game, something comes up which makes me graon and not want to get the game.

Is there anymore stupid comments like this? This I expect from Civ Rev, not in a CiV game.

You know what's childish and "imature?"

People complaining about pointless stuff like this. Yes.....they decided to change something like "Civilizations with the most Happiness" (or whatever) to "People who like to smile the most."

Wow.

Your life has been totally ruined. You act like there's going to be a graphic of the freaking cookie monster or something next to the graphic for healthiest civilizations. Or maybe a picture of Ted DiBiase holding the million dollar belt next to the graphic for Civ's with the most gold?

Just go buy and play Civilization IV, please. I'm sure that game suits all of your overly obsessive mature needs in each and every way.

So they put a little humor to the series and it's suddenly dumbed down? Geeez...

I'm sorry, but this is the single stupidest complaint I have ever seen about the game by a very wide margin. And even a small margin would be saying a lot.

By all means, let this be your reason not to buy the game. Please.

Lol.... nuff said ;)

Wow, what comments. Isn't these the same complaints that were given to Civ Rev and most people justified the comments, but once it comes to a Civ PC game, and now all of a sudden it's ok? I thought humour was put in Civ Rev but it's called childish. Babish even. But it's on a PC and it's ok?

So if I am wrong, how come nobody has corrected me? So if you can't correct me, then would that mean I am right then?

Multiple people have disagreed with you and if that's not enough for you then what the hell do you expect us to say?

As someone who has played Civilization since Civ I on the PC, I enjoyed Civ Revolution. I'm not one of these lunatics who obsesses over EVERYTHING. I enjoy games for what they are. Games. I enjoy the Civ V interface, I think it's a hell of a lot better than Civ IV. Much nicer to look at, easier to navigate.

Yeah, but it's not funny. On top of that, sometimes I don't even know what the list is about - I think there's one that says something like "people who do the most", which I think would confuse someone who didn't know from previous games that productivity is ranked.

I'm not as dismayed as the OP was, but it is a little annoying. If you're gonna rank people, it should be concise and use the same categories as the demographics screen, else you don't know what you're falling behind in.

I think the tool tip tells you what it represents.

Its supposed to be funny. You know, subtle humor? Some of us get it. You obviously dont..... :(

I agree with Davor and I think that a lot of people do, they just aren't as vocal on these Civ V forums. Its also surprising to see so many people shoot his opinion down for the sake of defending the game. The game still may be great to play (i cannot say for certain yet) but it is more childish (More accurately:lowbrow?) than older games. Which was the OP's point.

Its supposed to be funny

But honesty, is it funny? They could have done something like "The Land of a thousand smiles" at least there is RL context in that.

Yes they have disagreed with me, but basically saying because I have an opnion, that I am the childish one of thinking it or saying go play another game is not a way to try and convice someone they are wrong in their thinking.

Moderator Action: We do not expect everyone to agree, but we do expect civility. Thanks.

There are mouse-over help texts that say what they are actually ranking.

The tooltip tells you what it really means.

I can see why people complain about other more worrying aspects of the game, but this is just nit picking, all the titles make sense, sure they may not be the funniest headings in the world, but im not too worried that they haven't used some obscure monty python quote or some really dry statement. Its a game after all. Also console games generally only get "dumbed down" because of limitations in hardware not specifically because of stupid people. I find it amusing that peopld find well made well designed easy to play games a negative thing, stop being so elitist.

I don't think the game is dumbed down like civ rev. It's just changed a lot that require you to change your strategy and how you play the game.

I did hate revolution though since it seemed too boring and easy.

If you're bothered by something so benign as this, then I recommend staying far away from Civ 5 and stick to your Civ 4. It sounds like you're looking for every reason to complain and not like the game, and I doubt actually having the game is going to cure you of that.

 I think we should create a Poll titled "Agree to disagree". The only radio button will be: Agreed.

It would save A LOT of threads :D And in all honesty, I expected this much change aversion with a game as legendary as Civ. I'll continue to play both IV and V.
