Performance issues

Not quite a bug, but it might be useful to signal the performance issues we have with Beyond the Sword in order to have them fixed in coming patches.

In the first turn after starting a new game with the extension, I noticed a significant performance boost when loading a city screen: a double click and a couple milliseconds later, it's here. Before, there was a slight delay of about 1 seconds.
Navigating the screen is also much much faster. In Vanilla & Warlords I found the screen sluggy, taking time to respond to any click on a Unit or Building in the lower-hand. No more pauses.

The advisors screens still take their time to load, but at least I don't check them as often as I do the cities screens.

Onto the issue: I don't quite recall when it started, but at some point in the game (same one, my first on BtS and without exiting Civ4), the delays reappeared until I did an Alt+Tab (to check these forums!) and they were gone. I saved and exited the game around 1700 AD (normal speed) and the screens were still instantaneaous.

Have anybody witnessed performance-related improvements or issues?

Please post your system specifications in your message.

Mine:
Athlon 64 X2 5600+ (2,8Ghz for each core)
2x1Go DDR-2 800Mhz
Motherboard ASUS M2N-MX
ATI X800GT (256Mo)
Samsung 400Go SATA2 (16Mo) running Civ4 and Windows

Windows XP SP2

Again, these screens were not as fast under Vanilla and Warlords on the same system.

Yeah, there have been some great increases in performance. Especially if you play Road to war mod, the turn cycles start to go rather quickly once the game gets going. You will see what I mean when you examine the large size of the maps.
What I'm saying is BtS has increased optimization for larger maps.

athlon 64 3200+ 2.0ghz
1 gb ddr3
asus motherb socket 939
Nvidia 7900 GTX 256 mb

Win XP Pro x64 edition (the game runs fine on this :) )
