I've submitted this petition to contest the hasty migration of lemmy101's wildly popular Civ5 Playthru to the Stories and Tales Forum.

There's no question that while lemmy's entertaining tutorial is technically a "story," it has also fostered quite a bit of discussion about Civ5 as well. In fact, several contributors to the thread have admitted to either signing up to CivFanatics (or dusting off their old accounts) just to participate. It would be a shame to relegate it to a place where it won't be seen as easily by the casual observer --- a Stories and Tales forum still in its infancy.

Please sign this petition if you feel the same way. Our Civ community will be all the better for it.

It's a fantastic post, it's educational as well as very witty and funny.

For anyone who is like myself, and enjoys torturing themselves with all sorts of pictures and knowledge about the game (before I get it on Friday!), then you must read it, it's superb.

-> a good thread to let it mature ;).
I do not really want to move anything back into general discussion, it's to crowded there.

And a PM should normaly do it (Not sure if the thread will get shut down because of PDMA).

While I agree with everything you said about the thread - it is a story and tales type thread, and that's probably where it should be located. :)

If that thread were allowed to stay in Civ V ... other similar threads may be started - which is fine - BUT CFC has a specific place for those types of threads (because there are a lot of them) - and that place should be used by everyone, not just by everyone but lemmy.

Yeah, I don't see how being moved to S&T is "punishment"

Look at it this way - in stories and tales - the thread will be on the front page A LOT longer, and thus, a lot more people will ultimately get to view it. If it stayed in Civ V...it would have been lost in all the clutter. :)

Edit: One of the most loved and most viewed threads in CFC history is in a stories and tales forum, so it's not like they sent the thread to purgatory or something.

I understand your points and certainly do not wish to demean the Stories and Tales thread at all. I too agree that S&T should be its eventual home. I still contend that when you have a page that brings in nearly 30,000 views within the first 24 hours, why mess with success? lemmy's thread was not unlike the balloons in front of the car dealership, and an effective antidote to all the "hata" threads in GD. Sure, the thread was a play-by-play, but with insight and analysis to the brave new frontier as well. Having it in our marquee forum on the first days of release did nothing but enhance the user experience of our members here at CFC.

For the record, I hadn't even heard of lemmy101 until I was reading the new GD forum and....

EDIT: Blah blah blah...shut up, Donovan, lemmy has just made the front page! :hatsoff:

Thanks, CFC team, a worthy compromise!
