Pikeman Hush : Turn 30 to 50 with quick gamepace.

A hush is a super early massive attack. The strategy that I will explain now is not exactly a hush, but a early massive attack with medieval units that can be trained for multiplayer games.

Let’s do it step to step with Bismark Leader:

-Create a Deity Quick Tiny Pangea and all other defaults settings.

1º turn is time to build a city and change production to warrior ready in 6 turns. Set to reseach Pottery and next Writing. Go ahead exploring with your warrior on open terrain.

It’s importante build the city on nice terrain, with food bônus and rivers that will give a special growing bonus in the future. This city will be your only one during so much time.

6º turn, until the new warrior is ready, attack the barbarian camps carefully to do not loss units. Choose city production as Worker ready in 8 or 7 turns.

- Try get some extra culture from city states or ancient ruins and choose tradition as your first social policies.

- Reseach Mining if your city is near some forests or hills that can increase production.
Reseach the techs needed to Civil Service. Philosophy should be the last technology researched because it’s more expensive and you probably will not find an ally to expend some gold on reseach pact now.

Wining an new warrior from barbarian camp, send it to protect your worker as soon possible. You can also buy a warrior with 150 of gold.
- Until the worker is ready, start Great Library.

- Choose Aristocracy as your second social polite as soon possible.

Try get philosophy on the same turn you complete the Great Library. You should start philosophy reseach near 22º turn.

- Since 30º turn, the Great Library should be completed. You can use shift+enter to skip the turns if you are waiting for get philosophy.

- Until Philosophy is completed, Choose Civil Service as free tech.

Congratulations, you are enable to build LandSknecht, a pikeman that costs the half of normal price.

The LandSknecht must to be build in 3 or 2 turns to enable you to build a large army faster.

Strike your enemy between turn 30º and 50º with all your pikemans, warriors and brutes to increase your success changes.

Pikeman lose their effectiveness too fast to be bothered with, especially on higher difficulties such as diety when the AI techs up pretty fast.

I'm just going to say it now: it's Landsknecht. Land=land, knecht, NOT knetch, =servant. So it basically means 'servant of the land'.

Nobody will ever spell it right. I think from now on I'm going to just call em L-zombies.

Anyone can get the GL on Deity, but you pretty much have to build your entire early game around it. Some Forests and a nearby neighbor with Workers you can steal help a great deal.

Its now Fixed.
I've readed something about pikemans mercenarys named Landsknetch.
But servant of the land sounds better because then are unlocked with Civil Service Technology.

Possible with Babylon. Some of the time. Anything else you would have to be very, very lucky.
Possible with egipth too. Keep the city growing and working on tiles with hammer and you shall build it before IA or another human player.

L-zombies.

AKA Lombies?

I call them Landsketch. That guy with the funny thread with speech bubbles called them that and Landsketch has stuck since then.

Maybe it's possible to make a mod that renames them to Landsketch...

For the multiplayer purpose, the Great Library means you dont expand exponentially in the first 40 turns.

The raw production you can get from 4-5 early cities is way better in mid term and long term pace than from getting this kind of unit early. You have to be very close to another civ to let this strategy viable. And if you miss the Great library you are in a bad shape.:p

If you manage to attack with these units (4-5 of them) very fast (60 turns), assuming you have to build them and transport them to the front, you can encounter a civ with a solid defence by that time and he can easily repulse you with his numerous units he got from his many cities.

Unless you are sure at 100% to have an easy target...this strategy in mp is risky.

In my case i dont build early wonders in mp, it slows you down in too many ways. If you want to make it simple just run 2 scientists for 12 turns in your cap and pop civil service with it, but not before throwing some cities around. Some mid-late wonders are great and are definitively worth to be build.

I will maybe post a grand strategy for multiplayer in next few days to demonstrate the powerful approach from a combination of REX and massive build of units while teching aggressively to steel and rifles. This will consist in getting longswordmen very fast and 10-12 riflemen in approx 100-110 turns in mp(prince diff. around 800 a.d. quick timer). Prince is the default setting in multi btw. Some guys which i played often in civ4 want my formula but i dont know if i really want to show that online to everyone...its like a beneficial margin for me and i want to keep it lol

I dont promise anything but if i feel bored of multiplayer i will be tempted to show this.

I always call them Landsknecht or "the result of completely misunderstanding the difference between Holy Rome and Modern-Day Germany in CiV". Maybe it's just my paranoia.

yes, the GL is at BEST a 50/50 on deity. quick tiny pangea guarantees your foes will be nearby so that is one of the few times that the landsnecht rush could actually work for the human player, and with so few ai's you do have a better shot at getting all wonders. Try your strategy on a standard/standard/random map on deity and tell us how it works out ;).

To build GL you need Pottery, Writing + Mining. The AI often gets GL before you can get all three techs.

Of course if you steal a worker and if you have a forest nearby, you should build the GL in double quick time at that point. Still the overall prognosis is that you will be outbuilt the majority of the time.

it's better to have a back up plan....
use the fail gold to buy library to recover or something...
but chase for the early 3 wonders are too dicey to formulate any reliable strategy.
