Pink line on my screen...=uh oh.

this happened just today, and has been this way since it happened. I even rebooted. About 1/2 inch away from the right side of my screen I have a pink line going perfectly up and down. Very thin. It is over top of everything except my mouse. When I scroll my mouse over it, it covers up the pink line. Unless it is an in game cursor in which case the line goes over it.

Irritating yes, computer destroying ATM no. Luckily I play Civ 4 in a window, as well as most other games. My computer is a laptop form 05-06, guessing it may just be near its life's end. Me and a friend have already resuscitated it a few times.

That's odd. I would expect your mouse cursor to go under it as well. Try updating or reloading the driver for your video. Make sure your cable connections are tight.

I will redo the drivers. But this is a laptop, its got a geforce 7400 go (laughable I know) so who knows lol. I know the newest drivers for it are 3 years old lol.

If it was a hardware issue, my inclination would be to think that it would be all the time, and not the oddity with the cursor. Very strange.

Since the cursor goes over it, it means its not a problem with the LCD panel. That leads me to believe that your GPU is damaged or your dirvers are bonky.

Try the latest nvidia mobile drivers, the ones nvidia released. They may still support the 7xxx series.

Also, try booting into safe mode to see if it's still there. Because IIRC, safe mode uses the crummy VGA drivers.

Are you sure the mouse goes over it?
It sounds like you have the same thing that happened to the panel on my laptop...over a few months it gained more and more lines of stuck pixels until it was too annoying to use.

Thanks, I will try the safe mode tonight and report back. Yeah the mouse goes over it. But also if I use Snip It(win 7 feature) it wont show(of course I just wanted to try lol). It also goes over my toolbar at the bottom. I will check the mouse over it issue, it is a very fine super pink line so it could be the white of the mouse is making it too hard to see. When I first turn on my computer its not there, it shows up as it starts to boot the OS though.

The Snippet tool is in Windows Vista as well!

Probably a GPU hardware issue.
