Pirates! preview

Yeah, I nosed around the internet a bit and it looks like at least that one I was referring to is. Good to know, because that was probably one of my favorite two or three Genesis games. Now I'm excited.

Pirates bring back memories from my C64 days. I guess I play pirates more than any other game on C64. I remember thinking when i bought it that it really didn't seem to be a great game until i started playing it. I love how all the parts of the game seem to fix together; treasure hunting, sword fighting , ship to ship battles and even marriage & fame. I hate they are leaving out the ship to fort battles but it was the weakest part. ( by the way all PC games back then that was made for any game system got watered down too much. I love silent service on C64 but hated it on Nintendos version.)

Pirates was one of the best freaking games ever made, and was basically responsible for turning me into a computer/video game junkie . . . I can't freaking wait.

:D

I was interested until I saw the screenshots and read about the 'dancing' part. Now it just seems really, really lame. With a fairly popular game like Civilization behind him you'd think he's be able to invest a little more into his graphics department but thise coastal cities in the game just look stupid.

Thanks for the preview though, now I know I won't be buying this game. It would have to have killer game mechanics for me to do so and considering how much I thought Civ 3 had taken far too many shortcuts to simulate AI, this game will probably end up being a joke.

Sid has taken quite a few steps down on my "kick-ass game designer" list.

That's pretty funny -- because a game contains a feature you're not interested in it suddenly becomes lame. That's like saying that C3C sounded really cool, but once you found out it added Crusaders or SGLs, C3C suddenly became lame.

Wow that looks cool! I like that it is less of a commitment to sit down and play it. It seems like more of an escape than a grind-it-out strategy like CIV. But it is more involved than a first-person-shooter, arcade or racing game. Good balance. Looks fun!
