Right. I hope I'm not repeating something someone else already stated, if I have I'm sorry.

I would like to see Plagues, ie Disease on major scales, implemented in Civ4. This is because it has had such a great effect on history. The Black Death and Bubonic Plague were (arguably) responsible for the prolonged Dark Age in medieval Europe. Millions of Native Americans were killed by diseases brought from Europe, that were harmless to europeans but deadly to natives who hadn't been exposed to them before.

This could be represented in many ways:

* When two civilizations of great initial distance to each other meet, there should be a percentage chance of a Plague breaking out.
* "Health" as a gameplay concept, which it seems is being contemplated already. Better "Health" modifier = less chance of a Plague.

I personally DISLIKE the idea of floodplains, jungles and marshes, ie specific geographic features, causing Diseases. Cold, northern climates causes illness as well, and many great plagues were started around the fertile climates of the mediterranean. I think Plagues should be able to travel, so that countries and entire nations could effectively get quarantined if their low Health value keeps spawning Plagues.

Whaddya think?

Actually, a plague concept was in the main game in C3C but Firaxis removed it and put it as an option from the scenario section if you wanted to play with it.
When it was in the main game, it was very annoying, and thus the removal. Now, indeed the new health system should have some negative effects of disease which expand on what is already in the game and make it more interesting.

This is obviously another major new game concept in Civ IV, and I'm excited to see how it improves on the current system.

You know what, I tend not to play games of Civ that DON'T have plague in it. I say 'bring it ON!!!' I like a challenge, especially if its one that good management can deal with!

Yours,
