Plan to get the source code for the exe

Just a side-note:

Does anyone here know Nexus - The Jupiter Incident? No surprise if not. Anyway, it is a great game published in 2004. It's popularity is far bellow Civ4, yet it received a remastered edition. I don't know how or who started it and I have to admit that it was probably less work to make it run on newer machines but still, it happened. So I think there should be some hope for at least a remastered Civ4.

Leoreth. You don't think Firaxis should be contacted. That there is no way to get their support.

I get it. I just don't agree.
No you apparently don't get it, because that is not what I think.

I definitely think Firaxis should be contacted. I just think that shooting them an open ended request is not a good idea. We first need to put some effort into demonstrating that we understand the situation they're in, and have the willingness and capability to work with them within these constraints. I could elaborate further but it's literally all within the huge wall of text I wrote in my first post in this thread.

You strike a very confrontational tone in your conversation with me, and I don't quite understand why. We apparently have the same goal, so that is not very constructive. Please at least address the position I have actually expressed at length.

The difference is that Civ4 is part of a series, and has sequels which are currently actively pushed by Firaxis and their publisher. Again, to avoid people reading into my posts, this is not an argument against trying to have a remastered Civ4. It is an aspect of the situation we should be aware of.

Fair point.

I understand that it's not an easy thing to accomplish and has to be careful. I just said "I'm hopeful :)"

So what can be done?

Huhh?
He never said anything like that. Did you actually read his posts?

EDIT: didn't see the second page, and Leoreth's answer

Well, first step is to, you know, contact Firaxis. We may want to choose someone who has a way with words. Don't thrown a list of requests at them, just start a contact.

By the way, if you need "crowd power", I am pretty sure I could make a effort to rally a lot of people from the RPGCodex/Tacticular Cancer community, which includes a lot of strategy fans who love CivIV and its mods.

Been a long while since I've been here, delurking for this is absolutely worth it. cIV is a fantastic game, but its sadly limited by old engine code.
