Any help? Its in the right spot, is it?
Yeah, it is - so I'm a bit puzzled. Let me ask some questions (I know, some of them are tedious... but I can't think of anything else right now):
  1. What patch are you on (for Planetfall, that is)?
  2. What secret project were you building/completing when you noticed it?
  3. What happened instead? (error? blank windows? anything?)

Some more "did you put the plug in?" questions:

4. Did you just place the compressed archives in the movies folder, or did you extract them? They should be extracted.
5. If you extracted them, did the bik files get created directly in the movies folder, or was a subfolder created? They should be directly in the movies folder.
6. Do you see wonder movies in unmodded Beyond the Sword?
 
Sorry for the extremely late replay. I just did not noticed that the page ended to a new one. And well my mind as been set on Civ 5 for awhile. And life as tied me up, like college and stuff. So lets answer the questions shall we. Ok

1.The latest pactch their is. My desktop icon says "Planetfall v13" I know for sure its the latest patch.
2.The movies NEVER play. Well...I have not yet to see wonder movies activate, because I figured if the intro does not play then the rest wont. Right? Or maybe the intro is conflicting with another intro file?
3. With the intro video not playing and persumebly the wonder movies as well, it just skips it and heads right into the game.
4.I have extracted the files. First to a desktop folder, then moved the files (not including the folder) where they should go.
5.yep, in the "movies" folder.
6.Yes I do.

Its just so bizzar. I hate computers these days. I wish their was just a magic wand to wave around. :(

There is no intro video... - it's *only* wonder movies. And they only activate, if *you* build something.

If you're on the latest patch and *don't* have the movies installed correctly, there should at least be an empty box popping up after completion of the secret project, that's why I was asking.

Now that there is a Civ 5, maybe Planetfall will now be configured to the new Civ and Windows 7. I look forward to that so that I can play it again - it was my favourite game; the best of all the Civ mods for carrying on the genius of the original.

Version 14 of Planetfall, the Alpha Centauri total conversion mod for Civ4 BtS, has been released. This new version will break save games from previous versions.

Don't forget to reapply the SMAC fx and voices folder, and the movie files. A new version creates a new mod folder after all.

18. Centauri Meditation now requires (Archeology or Social Psych) and Xenobiology.
19. Social Psych now requires Defense Logistics or Xenobiology.
20. Bio-Engineering now requires Biogenetics or Information Networks.
21. Polymorphic Software now requires Information Networks or Renewable Energy.
22. Recycling now requires Ultraponics or Biogenetics.
23. Unit strength adjustments: Behemoth 7, Interceptor 3, Penetrator 5, Cruiser 10, Gravship 7, Bunker III 9.
24. If an artillery unit directly attacks a stack defended by another artillery unit, the stack does not suffer collateral damage.
25. When an artillery unit is damaged, the unit will no longer be chosen as the prefered defender against other artillery.
26. The ECM special ability and Spore Cloud morphosis now make its unit completely immune to collateral damage. The unit can't be targeted by ranged strikes. ECM is now only available for Vanguard and Boat units.
27. The Deep Radar ability no longer allows one to see Deep Pressure subs on trenches.
28. The Deep Pressure Hull ability now allows the unit to see other Deep Pressure subs on trenches. In addition the ability provides a 25% combat bonus on Ice.
29. The Metabolic Boost morphosis provides the Blitz ability.
30. New special ability added at Monopole Magnets: Zero Point Module. Provides Blitz. Available to Artillery, Cruiser and Vanguard units.
31. Needlejet units can pick the Antigrav Struts special ability.
32. The Antigrav Struts ability no longer allows double movement speed on water and along rivers.
33. The Nanometal Armour and Photon Wall special abilities no longer provide a +10% combat bonus versus Vanguard units.
34. Protectorates cannot join in a Transcendence victory.
35. The Transcendence council motion and civic now require 5 less Flowering Counter: respectively 75 and 80.
36. The Council Member civic now only gives a trade route bonus with other Council Members rather than all foreign factions.
37. The Military Academy has been removed. Instead there is now an Army, Naval and Air Force Academy which provides an extra special ability slot to different unitcombattypes.
38. Mind Worms are now more likely to spawn randomly than Spore Launchers.

Version 13 is the version, not the patch. So I must repeat the question: what, if any, patch do you use? How do you know which patch you use?

Incorrect. Like Lord Tirian says, there is no intro movie, and to see wonder movies you need to build wonders/secret projects. What happens when you build the Command Nexus, to make things more concrete? Even if the movies are not installed, if everything else is, you should at least see a blue empty box appearing as Lord Tirian pointed out.

...uh, what? I'm using Windows 7 (64-bit) since February... and never had problems with Planetfall (I mean apart from the odd planetbuster bug a while ago - and AFAIK Maniac fixed it after I provided him with a savegame... but nothing major).

I just downloaded and installed Planetfall version 14. I noticed Unity Rovers are bugged. At any given turn when a Unity ROver is the active unit, none of the command icons are visible. I have to switch to another unit, then switch back, for the Rover's command icons to appear. In addition, when a Unity Rover 'levels up', none of the upgrade icons appear, regardless of what I do.
Other than that, this version has been bug free so far.
 
It seems like all needlejet units are bugged too. They have no animation and cause game to fall permanently when you try to rebase them.

All of them? Can't be - I can confirm it with the Thunderbolt, but the Penetrator and the Interceptor are working fine for me.

EDIT: Sorry, this reads a lot harsher than I intended to (too late in the night I guess...); as I said, I can only confirm it with the Thunderbolt - if others are crashing for you, too, could you post which ones do?

Errrr... Interceptor become a red sphere instead of model, without any buttons on panel. About penetrator - unsure.

Did you chose special abilities/promotions for it? And which faction were you playing? Because, I think I've tracked it down - some of the special versions have an incorrect path... the stock model should work, though.

Hey Maniac( and others?), this is one of the greatest Modpack ever!!!
It's amazing how everything is well planned, how it comes very close to experiencing the sequel from Alpha Centauri, and how it changes in so many ways stuff from vanilla civ4.

I came here to ask one more bit of things from you guys, I'm starting to plan a new Mod, it is likely to be something derivative from Rise of Mankind, with more stuff and dearly more balanced. But the way i'm picturing in my head, it won't be nothing like RoM.

Anyway can you tell me if there are Modcomps you guys used, or if some of the feature you implemented can be used as a modcomp.
Now I'm specially interested in changing the terrain types, you know, highlands, rocky moist and stuff, i wish i could use them as real civ4 terrain, that would make map altitudes have sense, and would be( as it already is in PlanetFall) more immersive and fun scenario.

I am holding my breath, blessing myself and knocking on wood, but I am in the early turns of a Planetfall MOD, version 14, using WINDOWS 7! :)
 
Alright I've never played SMAC before however I did play ToT's extended original
campaign and liked it. From that experience how much do you think I will like this?
(I realize posting in the planetfall thread might have some prejudice for the mod so give me an honest opinion.)

Edit: Wow that was a lot of downloading... anyway on my first turn I got a python exception that prevented me from playing
