    Macro theory: Sitting in your city is a move the AI does. We all exploit that. The fact is if Kaz have a spy in our backyard (around DT) then they know we have nothing else. They knew all of our troops due to the MS move. As Such If we didn’t attack, while they could of Hit Zero, they wouldn’t have. They would of split us further and started cutting roads, and beat us to DT…then would we be in a world of hurt. As such the plan needed to be to hurt Kaz enough so that next turn they move their 2 Maces & elephant onto their remaining units. (which worst Case was 4 of them) This move would give us another turn to get more units, but more critically allow our workers to move and finish chops this turn (120 :hammers: worth)

    Round 1: The Sacrafice
    Attack theory: Sacrifice units to damage Kaz Strong units, then Kill once Odds get to our favour.

    Goud (Axeman ) STR II Vs. STR I Maceman Odds 10.7%: Result Win :eek:
    (this wasn’t supposed to happen as such I had to Alt-Tab out and chat to Krill) As it turned out the next 2 moves were still “sacrifices” as the original plan called)

    Kentuky (Chariot) STR I Vs. STR I Maceman Odds 0.9%. Result Lose: Important Result: Kaz Maceman Reduce to (72/100) = 5.76 :strength: (this was actually a bit worse than the average from what I could tell)

    Paris (archer ) Vs. Unused Promo Maceman Odds 0.2% Result Lose: Important Result: Kaz Maceman Reduce to (52/100) = 4.16 :strength: (this was better than average.) but our odds were misrepresented here because Kaz did 31 HP damaged per hit, so we got a ‘bonus’ round (31*3 = 93) last round had 7 life left for Paris. This is the power of full str units and understanding damaged dealt to them severely reduces odds. Example if Paris was at 2.9 str even we lose that round.
    *Paris was chosen again in talking to Krill he told me the spear was more important for the Elephant, otherwise we could of sent the other chariot at this stage.

    Waterstof (Axeman ) Shock Vs. Unused Promo Horse Archer Odds 32.6% Result Win :eek:
    This wasn’t supposed to happen either. But he was used because if we damaged the HA (expected result, quite severely to under 2.0 :strength: ) then our next Round would we be getting into the push where we had 50-50 odds at winning our battles.

    Round 2: The Push
    Attack theory: Mid range Odds 50-50 Lose units yes but deal heavy damage, A.k.a this is what stops them from attacking next round.
    Adjusted Attack theory: Given what happened in the first round again I needed to Alt-Tab out at this point and converse with Krill. Basically it was this, we now had a strong chance of wiping the Kaz stack, so it was to minimize our collateral lose now. (I.E. why the spear never attacked as it had +25% fort bonus)

    Zuurstof(Axeman ) Woody III Vs. DAMAGED STR I Maceman Odds: 49.1% Result Win. Our 2 first strikes we hit on both. After that Odds were almost 90% in our favour for that battle, we barely squeaked it out.
    *Why use Zuurstof our lvl 3 unit? Because at this point in the sacrifice we got 2 other units to lvl 3, so the HE isn’t an issue.

    Round 3: Go Big Or Go Home
    Attack theory: After the Sacrifice and the Push, you get to a point where the odds get to be in your favour. As such you simply choose the option given the situation to kill (not damage anymore, units are starting to run out) as many units as possible.
    Adjusted Attack theory: Given that the sacrifice and the push went so well (I have never seen a 1 fight push before, many 2’s and 3’s but not a 1) we now had a tough call to make.

    We had almost 80% odds with our top attacker. Problem was…it was our CGII Longbow, so again at this point atl-tab out and chat to Krill…he said
    Unnamed (Longbow) CGII Vs. Unused Promo Catapult Odds: 78.3% Result: We win. Longbow is pretty damaged as to be expected. IMO this battle was the riskiest. In the battle trees I had this battle was typically further down. However we also hadn’t won those other 2 dice rolls.

    Achilles (Axeman ) medic Vs. STR I Chariot Odds: 75.1% Result: We win. Achilles is pretty damaged as to be expected.
    *Why attack with a Medic? At this point we had some other promos to get a medic, and Zurr also won who is the best medic we have. Also in the 3 in 4 chance we won, he also gets a promo. The spear at this point still had to go up against the mace and had ~35% odds. And again it had the 25% fort bonus.

    Round 4: Physiological Warfare
    Attack theory: Pray that we were lucky to get to this point.
    Adjusted Attack theory: We made it and 2 units to attack with. (normally you have only 1) The idea here is in single player you stop. The risks can kind of get silly. And the AI retreats at this point. However in Multiplayer completely wiping a stack can do ever lasting damage to the enemy.

    Dutch Warmblood(Chariot) Sentry Vs. Unused Promo Catapult 67.1% Odds (and retreat as well on top of that) Result: Win. :clap:

    And as such due to some rather silly rolls in the sacrifice phase, which carried on into the other rounds, not only did we kill the stack, but we managed to not use one of the units (spearman)

    If anyone has any questions about what the next attack would have been if we had lost at any battle let me know if the general thread and I can go into the theory there. But Basically if we had lost those 2 other battles in the sacrifice round, as originally predicted, we would have had 3 “push” battles in which we should of won 2-3 of them. and from there judged the situation for damaged dealt etc.

    Kaz’s move was the worst MP move I have seen in a while. Ronnie I cheered at the airport when I saw your screenies (thanks for that btw) and they split their forces. Our biggest issue right now is that we don’t have high :strength: units. But when they split their forces like they did, we can use the same strategy as last turn. The other thing we had going for us (that Kaz didn’t know) is we could of gone to a GA and gotten a LB out of TKY and Zero this turn. This allowed us to use our LB’s at more strategic point in the attack, as we always had a unit to fall back on for city defences.

    Macro theory: Kill Stack 1. Kill Lone Mace. To Kill stack #1, we have to hurt that WE. With it having shock it was a tough unit. But the same rules apply to it. As it gets damaged it isn’t as good. Think like this: Is a 60% :Strength: mace better than an full axeman? (answer is no btw).

    Round 1: The Sacrifice
    Attack theory: Slightly different than last turn. While the principle holds the same, it had to be applied slightly differently due to the kaz unit mix.

    Dutch Warmblood(Chariot) Sentry Vs. STR I Shock War Elephant (code name Dumbo) Odds <0.1%: Result retreat :mad:
    (why are we mad at this result? The chariot is a useless unit. It no 0 damage to the WE. So basically this was useless.

    At this point my tree logic told me that we needed to save the other chariot for when the Maceman was showing (to damage him so an axe could kill). Problem was only way to get the mace to show was to hit the WE. Only unit that could do any damage to the WE&#8230;.

    Unnamed(Longbow) Virgin Vs. STR I Shock War Elephant (code name Dumbo) Odds 13.5%. Result Lose: Important Result: Kaz WE reduced to 2.9 :strength: (36/100 HP)

    Unnamed (chariot) Virgin Vs. Str I Maceman Odds <0.1% Result Lose: Expected. But why so :mad:?? Because for the second time we didn&#8217;t dent their unit. Hence my cross reference to:
    Now this was a tough call at this point. Because the best unit to use was the LB on the hill. The problem is that was really the only defence for TKY. So knowing we had the GA in the back pocket and we could get another LB if needed, this allowed us to press on at this point where as normally we may have stopped.

    Round 2: The Push
    Attack theory: How did we get here so quick? Read on. Odds at this point are almost 50-50 for the battles. Even if at first they didn&#8217;t look that way.

    Unnamed (Longbow ) Str I Vs. Str I Maceman Odds 26.7% Result Win :dance:
    This wasn&#8217;t supposed to happen, but were the odds really that bad?. Let&#8217;s understand the finer mechanics of the game:
    Both units had 100 :health:
    We hit for 17 DMG each round = 6 hits required (last hit does 15 but still pretty efficient)
    Kaz Hits for 22 DMG each round = 5 hits required (last hit did only 2 DMG but still it was a round they needed to win)
    So what does that tell me? 5 vs 6 = 45.45% odds. On top of this we had a 50-50 chance of landing our first strike (we didn&#8217;t) but if we took that into account then in reality we had a (50-45.45)/2+45.45 = 47.725% odds on that attack. This is why the chariot went first, it was averaged out to do just enough damage to the mace so the LB had even better than 48% odds.

    Ok So the Mace is dead. Now what? Well a spear has 73% odds on the HA. So which one? At this point I was showing over a 90% chance that we could also kill that lone Maceman, and thus avoid the Golden Age, so taking that into account now it was planning further out for the barbs

    Charles II(Spearman ) Virgin Vs. Str II Horse Archer Odds: 73% Result Win. Ok so why not use Charles I? Because we needed him to protect workers. Something else interesting (make note of this, it is a high level coding flaw in the game) if you attack from a a fortified position (A.k.a. Charles II here he had a +25% fortify bonus) but your unit doesn&#8217;t move (he couldn&#8217;t due to the WE underneath the HA) then the game doesn&#8217;t remove the fortification bonus. As such Charles II still had a +25% fortification bonus. Pretty slick! I sure think so! I dove into the code of the game to figure it out and unlike healing which counts any type of movements (a.k.a Charles will still be at 3.3 :Strength: next turn) Fortification bonus only does a tile comparison.

    For someone to test If you move a fast unit, but then put it back to the same tile does it keep the bonus? Do fast units even get fortification bonuses?


    Round 3: Go Big Or Go Home
    Attack theory: Same as last time clean up, except this time our Push was more expected; we lost every battle, actually we did terrible in the push this turn.

    Unnamed (Longbow) CGII Vs. STR I Shock War Elephant (code name Dumbo) Odds: 99% Result: We win. Longbow takes no damage. And the real reason we used him to attack? At 99% that was worth 2XP. What does 2 XP get us? CGIII Longbow!!!

    Round 4: Physiological Warfare
    Attack theory: Ok in practice 2 Axes don&#8217;t beat 1 Maceman 50% of the time. However when the Axes have shock, it is a little bit of a different story. And we had 3 Axes :evil: Oh and the attack theory from the Longbow (rounds) applied here.

    Achilles (Axeman ) medic (Damaged 4.6/5 = 92 life) Vs. STR I Maceman Odds: 20.5% Result: We lose. As expected. But severely crippled the Maceman. My worst fear here is always the fight where you do 0 dmg. Because then we are right back at square one.
    Why use Achilles? We need the 4.6 :strength: over the 4.3 that Goud Had. Also by not moving Goud he is at full :strength: next turn as a Str II unit (think catapult killing)

    Achilles (Axeman ) Str II Shock (full STR) Vs. Damaged STR I Maceman Odds: 99.8% Result: We Win. As expected. Icing on the cake? No damage taken. Kaz now how have 66.2% odds on him. Those odds get better if they actually use a promo though.

    Dutch WarmBlood(Chariot) :cry: I messed up. I was checking the odds on the axe and my dog hit my arm :mad:. We attacked. Thank god we won. It was ~70% odds + 15% withdraw, but next turn the kill was like 98%. On top of that the chariot is off the road now :(. Sorry guys. My dog will be out of the room. Also I found a new way to check odds. (not using the right mouse button, but instead hold alt and hover over) no chance of a misclick that way.
