Ya know, I really don't think we actually need stuff from 1st grade..... That was pre-wars. I think we were too busy pretending to be fighters in an intergalactic-war-thingy. :crazyeye:

Yes, coast --> sea --> space/cliffs that you will fall off.

The OOO file is black, with an ocassional star.

Yes. The cliff only occurs when the coast touches Ocean. Otherwise, it's pretty good. Just make the ocean match with the space terrain I altered.
 
you dont have to be nice...it sucks...5 mins worth of drawing...but I think its coast to sea instead...I need to make a water template, this is gonna take a day or two...my cut and paste attempt failed horribly(I'll post it if you want a head scratcher)...ass soon as I determine which tiles sre coast/sea/ocean, this is no prob...

also...does the water stop at the coastal cliff? like a sea wall?...
and there IS water on the sea(duh) but give me an idea for transition other than a blank line...how does the sea empty into space?...Im thinking it trickles off into null space, or it could be little water falls off the edges...???

It's pretty good. My tries were horrible compared to this.

Yes, water does stop at the cliffs, because the cliffs are supposed to be like the edge of the earth if it was flat.

The thing is, sea doesn't empty into ocean in this mod. The sea and coast is actual water, and the ocean is supposed to represent empty voids of nothingness. But, if you want, you can make sea do whatever when in contact with ocean (such as the waterfall thing).
 
well, Im still unable to decipher exactly what you want...but I will update the preview pic as I get farthur into it...there is a new preview now...I will start adding the cliffs if youd like...how is it so far (no more work until you say good or bad)

I guess the question Im asking is...Where does the water go?...does it pool or flow over?...is what I have fine?...the coasts drop off into cliffs at the ocean (not yet, but they will) and the sea just ends?...
 
Hmm...

Picture the Flat Earth theory. Now picture it as if you are looking at it from the top. You only see shallow water and deep water. Then you see a cliff where things fall off the edge of the earth and into space. In this case, you only see shallow water at the edge of the earth. No deep water.

The terrain for coast is the shallow water, Sea terrain is deep water, and Ocean terrain is space.

So far it is pretty good. Just get rid of the black dots that are on the middleish of the tile, and the big blue square that is in 4 other squares.

The water should just trickle in some of the border squares, but not all.

The sea isn't connected to space in the mod, but you can do it whatever you like to connect it to space, weather it is just making it end with a cliff, or just ending, it's up to you. Which ever's easier.
 
ok, I got it...I understand totally...Flat earth like Erik and the Vikings...now, does the "coast" to "sea" transition happen smoothly or with another cliff?...To make it easier to explain, there are 3 colored waters, Dk blue, Blue, and Lt Blue...are there cliffs seperating Lt Blue from Blue?...I know that Dk Blue is seperated from everything by clifs, but how does Lt Blue transition to Blue?...like I have or with cliffs?...

The blue thing is the SSS file...I dont have yours...send it to me for a better preview...the black smatterings are squares I need to tighten up(or may have already, new preview when I get working on the cliffs) and will NOT be there unless its a sharp edge/cliff...

as as the map is tilted, there will be a short cliff face on the Southern, or facing edge, but no waterfalls...the water doesnt look right on this scale, and I just dont like it...

also Im currently editing off the little Fjord attempts I made...they all suck IMO...Slartty Bartfast I am not...
 
Coast to sea is smooth, like normal coast to sea in RL (or leave it as it is in the game).

I've finally got a plausable solution for stopping people from running through walls! Make a wall unit, give it a defense of 1000 and an AA defense of 1000, and then give it enslave ability, to deter people from swarming it, make the wall terrain have a defense bonus of 1000, and finally preplace it at every single wall terrain in the map.

We can either use Aaglo's walls, or Kinboat's walls.

Wouldn't it be easier to make wall terrain impassable? :crazyeye:
 
No, because then all mountains will be impassable.
 
Well, the LM mountain terrain (wall terrain) will have a defense bonus of 1000, and then the wall unit will have a defense of 1000 and an AA defense of 1000. So, lets see here, 11000 defense if I calculated it correctly.
 
kinda like running up against a wall...

new preview screenshot above, with "cliffs" shadowed in (I missed 3 tiles, I know...and I found several odd, while rare glitches in coastline that Im fixing to make it line up...otherwise...that is the skeleton of what it will look like)

It kinda floats there when its colored...do you want the cliffs taller or are they ok?...I think they look cartoony when I make em taller...is the preview ok?(for size of cliffs, not color or depth)
