Playing as SPQR (senate): no shrines/temples?

Sort of a noobish question, but how exactly do you manually unlock factions? I'm not particularly interested in playing as the Senate, but I'd like to try some of the others.

You need to copy the unplayable factions into the playable factions in your descr_strat file.

I know the senate crashes when u open the senate tab but are there other bugs and crashes with the senate?

Are there bugs or crashes playing any of the other tribes?

And what about the slaves, are they unlockable?

To play rebels you ahve to make one faction unplayable since there can only be 20 factions in the menu.

dont you have to conquer the faction to unlock them

Unlockable factions are unlocked by conquest (and, I may be wrong, but I think a Roman player unlocks factions conquered by the other Roman factions), but both unlockable and unplayable factions can be accessed through manual editing.

I unlocked the unlockables by completeing the campaign on any mode.

It's much more fun and challenging IMO to play as the unplayable factions (especially Armenia and Scythia).

In DarthMod those factions are playable Thrace too.
